timnop 1 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Hello, I have a windows 7 laptop with i7 and 8gb of RAM as my server machine. Spectrum is my TV and internet provider. I have HDHomerun Prime and cablecard setup and my internet speed is roughly 100mbps. I have previously used NextPvr server with good success, but not impressed or satisfied with the Kodi frontend experience. I really like the entire EMBY experience and have the premier upgrade. EMBY is imho far superior to anything else I have seen as a frontend with a beautiful grid guide and has all the devices covered with excellent apps. For some undetermined reason though, I am having some hiccups and pauses now and then when playing Live TV on my Mibox 3 boxes and 2nd Gen FireTV as well. Additionally occasional pixelation and slow channel activation from the guide menu. I did not have this issue previously with NextPvr/Kodi. I've also had to reboot my devices occasionally because they just won't play live TV again otherwise. I am using an ASUS AC3100 router which is one of the most powerful and most recommended for streaming and all of my boxes are using the 5G frequency. I'm not sure where the issue is, but I don't want to abandon EMBY. Should I try the NextPvr plugin? I'm not sure how this works exactly, but I presume that Nextpvr would actually be the backend server and EMBY will be the interface for the devices...is that close? Will I still be able to use the EMBY guide to schedule and watch recordings? I am rather new at all this and have spent a lot of time reading the forums. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated...Thanks,
Luke 42085 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Hi there, thanks for the feedback. Can we look at some examples of your difficulties? Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
timnop 1 Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 Here is the server log from this morning. When I selected a channel to watch, I got a spinning cursor for about 30-40 seconds and then an error; "too many errors giving up". Also when I signed in to Emby on another PC in the house, TV froze for about 20 seconds or so. Please let me know if you need anything else and thanks for your help. server-63647510400.txt
ebr 16195 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Hi. There should have been one or more ffmpeg logs created as well. Can we please see those? Also, exactly what time did this issue occur? Thanks.
timnop 1 Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 It was around 7-7:45 EST File attached...thanks. ffmpeg-remux-31c01682-0806-4bbe-ac0a-c30ef504c8d0.txt
ebr 16195 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Okay, that's a pretty large time window and that ffmpeg log appears to be from a playback session starting at about 6:11am and seems to be successful without any real issues. The best thing to do here will be to capture an exact instance of the problem and then follow the instructions for sending a log from the app as well as posting the server logs from that session. Thanks.
timnop 1 Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 Thanks, I have enabled debug mode in the app settings and while in there I noticed that "Direct stream live TV" was not enabled, so I enabled it. Could my problem have been as simple as that?
