Luke 42077 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 well what do you mean by not playing dvd rips? streaming folder rips has always been considered an experimental feature. It's just an extremely difficult thing to do. So I'm guessing the phone is trying but something is failing.

Ever time time I try to play a DVD folder I get a screen that immediately pops up and says (error URL not found) and the iphone app crashes. All other video file formats seem to be working perfectly

None of these functions work with external players, other than just being able to press play and start it. If that's not it, you'd have to supply server and mbt logs. To be clear, the remote is NOT working with the server either. no i am not using an external player with mbt. Attached is a server log. Fresh log, started the movie 9 on the server, connected with mb mobile on my phone, initiated remote and hit pause. The 'loading' animation displays after hitting pause for the first time. server-63531362356.log
Ghostm 74 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I have a chromecast and can do some testing, my only issue at the moment is music artwork im noticing. I dont know if its a server issue, but i get album artwork for the albums but for songs i dont seem to. On android it works a bit different cause of the view he uses. So i am not sure if its a server thing, or if we could use a different view. I think redshirt had it to display fanart when you click an album and then just a list of songs displayed below. But as of right now the homepage for music, and after i click on albums is just blank boxes for songs... The other thing I wanted to ask, i did this on plex but cant seem to on here, sometimes i will put a show on for my child using the remote function, then i will watch something myself on the ipad, unfortunately their is no minimize button so if i have to pause or stop the video playing through the remote i cant, all i can do is hit done on my current video playing on the i device. On plex you could minimize the video you were watching, go to the remote, do what you need to do, then go back to the video your watching on your device. I was just wondering if something like this could be added (maybe a minimize button) instead of a done button which would completely stop and close the video.

Longrifle 33 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 OK, so as you know the update does not allow playback to iOS of Video_TS folders (dvd rips) but in my testing of the chromcast I found that I can still use the iPhone to select a movie and then cast it. this works fine, I can play/pause/stop/volume up/down it all works. Just won't play on the iPhone.. message of URL not found. not sure if this helps anyone.

I had the chance to play around with plex chromecast mirroring, and i would think your very close already to basically providing this functionality. The layout or process for which your app connects to chromecast (your app on ios casts per movie, go to a movie cast, go to a new movie cast, where as plex you connect to chromecast, then search your library) but plex basically just puts the movie info and metadata and artwork on your chromecast screen when you click on A movie. Which would be this page in your app http://www.awelswynol.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/IMG_0831.png plex looks like this on the chromecast screen for instance https://blog.plex.tv/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/600x337xmirror-movie.png.pagespeed.ic_.DUlGhmuV2M.png This is useful for those with kids, who are young, they dont know what to watch its easy to put a movie picture and item details on screen and let them say if they want to watch this one. Of course this could also apply to a room full of adults to Anyway its a small but useful detail in chromecast support, i noticed when loading a movie you already cast fanart/backdrop and the movie cover, so all thats really missing is metadata and perhaps an easier procedure to stay connected to your library to accomplish this when your browsing. Ghostm 74 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 (edited) And one other thing i forgot to mention I tested this on android, i think the plex ios app is due to get this mirroring functionality soon according the plex blog, but the plex app for android right now also does mirroring for music which is also nice. click on an album and it will put the list of songs on the album on the screen along with the album art and artist info. (I would also would like to see artist metadata support for music in the app, although im not sure if its just not working or its not supported) https://blog.plex.tv/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/mirror-artist-2.png Im not sure if you check out or use plex stuff or are familiar with their application. Once again you seem to be fairly close to already doing this, as the music backdrop and album art is casted anyway when you play music. I also tried music on chromecast with your app (music is not currently working on ios for me or using the remote function and alot of artwork for individual songs wont load even after a refresh) but i figured i would see if it worked with chromecast.... but the music wouldnt play and the log showed "NotFoundHttpHandler:" When i hit stop in the app i would hear split second audio oddly. Also just a minor suggestion with music and the app designer, your app seems to be go one layer further then most apps for music. On plex or mb3 for android you click an album, you get a list of songs, then you hit a song and it plays. Which is nice and easy. With the ios app you hit an album and get a list of songs, then you click the song but it doesnt play and you get taken to yet another page just to play the song. Just seems like an extra step that is not really needed when playing music. Just a minor detail that would help ease navigation of music imo (your app looks more professional then the plex one however ) Edited April 1, 2014 by Ghostm

Am I supposed to see it as an available client in my MB3 server? I don't. I just see the DLNA, MBC, and web clients. I don't see it there and I don't see it on the remote options when I select it in the IOS client so I am really confused on how this is supposed to be working.

If the server, what is the communication the server is looking for that it is not seeing? If the phone, why would it not work when I see the device in the Chromecast App as "Ready to Cast"?

I don't have Youtube on my phone. I do have Plex, though, and am able to use it to Cast to my ChromeCast. Would you prefer I install Youtube and try it that way? I figured if it works in Plex it should work the same in youtube.
