Latest Update Deleted A Ton Of My Metadata

I was (am) actually quite upset about it. Can somebody explain why half of my movies, all of which were "locked to prevent future changes", had their metadata deleted? Seriously, ~50% of my movies were affected. ~25% were converted to an unlocked status, so they are back to the default setup. I lost my custom genres and covers that I had selected. The other ~25% remained locked, but had their covers removed. So now those movies don't have covers at all, and the ones that were converted to an unlocked status have the default cover. With about 550 titles, that's gonna take me forever (again) to fix

Oh, and now I see all my TV shows have lost their covers as well. I thought the whole point of locking the title was to prevent all my work being reset.

What version of the server are you running? Are you set to release or beta?

I understand it's not supposed to happen, but it did. I was just hoping for some sort of explanation so that I can prevent it in the future. I have it set to download metadata and images from the internet, and save the metadata and images in the folders.

Movies that were locked before the update had their images and other metadata saved in the folder. After the update, the ones that were converted to being unlocked just went back to a default setup, with the default cover and metadata. Not my customized stuff. Then there is another group that remained locked, but all metadata and images are now missing from the folders. So since they are locked, the only file in the folder is the video file itself. So somehow my stuff was deleted.

I had almost all my custom mapped genres deleted by the server, on its own initiative. So Luke's statement, while true in intent, definitely suffered a glitch.

Actually in my case, genres were overwritten not deleted ;)

My experience is that whilst my entire collection is locked, with internet providers turned off, with MB not allowed to collect any metadata, some aspects of the metadata xml files still change - specifically, a refresh collection always adds a "blank genre" (I don't use the genre cleanup tool), and actors are added from the series level xml to the individual episodes xml's. Odd!

This new release has a lot of metadata related changes, and going forward we are completely hands off with your metadata once we've scanned it in. But I realize to upgrade process from the last release to the current one can cause some issues so I do apologize for that. But once you're back up and running you really should have what you're looking for. Even if you are using our metadata providers, you're not going to see your metadata getting saved frequently anymore, unless you're actually doing something to necessitate that.

Well that is definitely encouraging. The big thing for me is the ability to scrape the initial info, which I can then edit as needed. But then from that point forward I don't want that title being touched. Here's to hoping that it all works out this time. And thank you for your replies
