Hello,

I just subscribed to the premium service on Emby and have a newbie question. I am using the Synology DS218+ with the Silicon Dust HdHomerun Prime for my live TV.  At any resolution above 780p on the Emby app I am experiencing dropped frames consistently when viewing HD programming.  Also the CPU on the Synology is maxing out at over 90% most of the time.  When I drop the app's resolution to 720p the dropped frames stop mostly and the CPU drops down to 65% usage. It appears the trans-coding is inadequate for the higher resolutions.  Is this an issue with the Emby app?  My new Synology DS218+ is supposed to handle 4K video.   The reason I went with Emby is because it ran Live TV.  Any suggestions appreciated.

I will see if I can find log info.  Also when playing Live TV using the Windows Emby Theater app it works fine.  It only drops frames or stops and starts when using Android app on my Nvidia Shield and my Android tablet. Does the Emby Windows app utilize the CPU on the Windows machine for trans-coding?  It looks like the CPU on the Synology NAS is using almost all the CPU processing power.  I will see if I can figure out how to get logs from the Emby app and the NAS.  My Home entertainment center uses the Nvidia Shield and this is the primary device used.Thank you.

Hi there, welcome. Can we please look at an example? please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !

Hello,

I didn't have hardware trans-coding turned on.  I enabled it has chose Hardware acceleration: to AVI.  Should I enable throttling or not?  I am still getting an occasional audio dropout but the video is much better with no visible dropped frames. Here is a log from Emby on the playback:

Thanks for the info. glad to hear it has improved. I would leave the transcoding settings on default and simply enable hardware acceleration. If you attach the ffmpeg log as well I might be able to provide further advice. Thanks !

Thank you....I am running Emby Live TV on two devices and it is working great now.  So far it is exceeding my expectations.  Sorry... but there are many options and forgetting the hardware trans-coding was my bad.
