Guest asrequested Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 (edited) I just want to say I'm liking the new look of the guide. It looks so much cleaner and modern. Nice job! Edited December 12, 2017 by Doofus
Luke 42078 Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Thanks for the feedback. Although it looks like you're in TV mode due to the absence of scrollbars, right?
Guest asrequested Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Thanks for the feedback. Although it looks like you're in TV mode due to the absence of scrollbars, right? Yeah, I'm always in TV mode. My TV is 55" and I sit 8' away.
Guest asrequested Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 (edited) If I use desktop mode, everything is tiny, so I can't use it very well. Edited November 19, 2017 by Doofus 1
arrbee99 1815 Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Also, desktop mode looks like the web page, and I prefer the ET TV mode (even on the PC). BTW, swapping between modes, usually means having to exit and restart to get it to be applied properly (not that I do that very often). And, in TV mode on a PC, is there a shortcut to get the guide to scroll sideways (or to use the sideways wheel on a mouse so equipped ?)
Guest asrequested Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 A quick update. When a show is recording, you can't see the recording symbol by the show. Also, other symbols get cut off
Guest asrequested Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) That would help in some cases, but if you look at some of the others, the name of the show is pushing everything too far over. This is why in the past I've requested double lining the text. Make the second line dedicated to the indicators. Then this can never happen. Edited December 12, 2017 by Doofus
Luke 42078 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I know, I just prefer the elegance of WMC that keeps it all on a single line.
Guest asrequested Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 But we can't sacrifice functionality for the aesthetic. It has to work, first...then make it look good while it's working. What good is there in making the indicators if they are cut in half or missing? You could try making them smaller. I've always thought they were too big, anyway. I feel they should be smaller than the show title text. And maybe reduce the spacing? One other suggestion, for the 'now recording' indicator, how about just putting a red line under the text? The space is there for that. As the indicator is missing, completely, that would be an improvement. Something has to change!
denz 501 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 (edited) You certainly love your indicators don't you find it distracting hd icon for example isnt nearly everything hd if the channel is hd unless in usa it is different to here, same with repeat you have new what is point of having a repeat indicator. The record indicator is too close to the title there needs to be a bit of spacing. How are we going with getting guide working like in wmc kodi roku etc Edited December 13, 2017 by denz 1
Guest asrequested Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Yup. The indicators are useful. I value tools and usefulness over the aesthetic. The guide has been changed too many times. It's time to nail it down.
arrbee99 1815 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 still think one of the ones mentioned here https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/53634-another-small-guide-bug/&do=findComment&comment=518949 is a good idea.
Guest asrequested Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I really like how it looks, right now. But it's messing with the options. I'm starting to get the feeling that the general direction is to remove those options.
arrbee99 1815 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 It does look very nice, but you did essentially say you prefer function over form, and I think some kind of improvement regarding the visibility what being played at the moment would help, especially if you look at your example in post #4, which you (and I) think is too small anyway, but still...
Guest asrequested Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 The guide is actually almost identical to the comcast guide. Which I think is also an influence on the design. I mostly want to see if any shows are recording, at a glance in the guide. My suggestion of a red line under the show is something I'd like, the more I think about it.
