Question about folder sync

I am not sure just what happened but overnight all of my recorded and converted shows disappeared, i logged into my emby server via ssh and checked to see if it was just a library error and it is not, the files and directories are completely gone.

I did recently delete the .ts files would emby then go and delete the mp4's?

 

OK so i just tested this out and it seems to be reproducible, i am not sure if its expected behavior though.

If i delete a show that is converted to a mp4 using folder syn it will delete the corresponding mp4.

 

I did not expect this and it throws a bit of a monkey wrench into my plans on how to convert recordings and conserve space.

 

For example if i have tvshow1.ts in /media/emby and i use folder syn to convert it to tvshow.mp4 in /media/emby/mp4 and then i delete tvshow.ts emby at some point will delete tvshow.mp4 on me.

Folder sync is a sync process so this is how it works. If you want to avoid this from happening, then move the folder synced copy prior to deleting the original.

Well i know all the episodes of bunkd will probably be played again on tv over the course of a week ( seems like disney channel plays it a lot ) I just hope i can grab rick and morty it seems to only play a few times a week. Might have to set up my computer to my mp4 recorder to get all the episodes
