arrbee99 1817 Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 Some questions - What is the best way to treat individual TV items - I've decided to have a separate Documentaries folder, which for now contained docos that are single items. What is the best way to define them ? I went for the obvious (to me) and set the Library type to TV, but it insists on making them a series with one item in, complete with series poster and associated extra navigation page. I guess I could put them in with Movies and use genres to find Docos, but it doesn't really appeal, and I couldn't add series Docos, such as Planet Earth etc when I get round to it. What is the best way to treat single seasons / series. Related to the above, the best way to treated a single season. The library type should be TV but it would be nice to bypass the series page with one series in and go straight to the series listing which shows the individual episodes. Is there a way to display the type of library set ? I wanted to check if I'd set my Docos to type TV but couldn't spot a way to see that - if I click on Change Content Type that's (naturally) what it wants to do, would be nice if it said 'existing type is...'
Luke 42083 Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 Hi there, to learn how to organize TV libraries, check out our TV naming guide: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/TV%20naming Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !
arrbee99 1817 Posted November 17, 2017 Author Posted November 17, 2017 Had a look before I posted and another just now. It doesn't, unless, of course, I missed something. - well it doesn't for the first point. The wiki is obviously for naming, not actually how Emby treats them, which to me should be a combination of Movies and TV - would unset work better if it'll still collect metadata etc ? Maybe I should just try it... - the second point is more of a suggestion which I think would be nice to have, though possibly inconsistent with multiepisode series. - the third point is also a suggestion
Luke 42083 Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 For the third one, the content type is displayed right on the emby library setup page on the second line under the library name.
Luke 42083 Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 What is the best way to treat single seasons / series. Related to the above, the best way to treated a single season. It would be to treat them like any other series, then create a feature request if you would like it displayed differently.

arrbee99 1817 Posted November 17, 2017 Author Posted November 17, 2017 It would be to treat them like any other series, then create a feature request if you would like it displayed differently. Was thinking it doesn't work well (to me) for a single season to have a layout like this (where I've tried to merge two screenshots not very elegantly)... where you could just go straight to this page (maybe with some of the info from the above)... ..but it would be inconsistent with multi-episode items and maybe wouldn't work with the Cast and More Like This at the bottom. Might do a feature request, but not sure if I can think of an improvement anyway. 1
arrbee99 1817 Posted November 17, 2017 Author Posted November 17, 2017 Not forgetting point number first, were single items for me display like the above - have an Image, then Next Up, then Seasons. Sometimes there's no Next Up (probably been inconsistent with naming somewhere...)

Not sure if it was in the old Media Browser, or some other app I previously used, (edit: yup it was old MB) but there was an option at the library level where if there was only one folder or season, that it would auto enter folder which would work for this scenario. Really would love to see this added or just being able to set any folder to override the default/folder structure view would be most flexable. Will hop over to feature request with this one tomorrow. 1
arrbee99 1817 Posted December 26, 2017 Author Posted December 26, 2017 Oops, forgot about this. Just delete 'Seasons' and list the episodes there instead. Maybe get rid of 'Next Up" as well and highlight / enlarge the Next Up episode. Could still have 'Cast & Crew' at the bottom. No 'Next Up' or 'Seasons' for a single episode. ...not sure if that makes sense, was kind of making it up as I was typing...
