Emby Server keeps crashing

Emby Server is running on a Win7 PC.  I have another Win7 PC that I use in the home theater which runs Emby for WMC.  I appears that Emby Server keeps crashing.  I "think" it might be crashing when the WMC PC connects to the Server.  I start WMC and sometimes the cover art will display for the first folder but when I move to the next, there is never any cover art.  Or when Emby for WMC starts and there is just no cover art at all.  These let me know that Emby server has stopped running. I look at the serve and sure enough the Mediabrowser app is no longer running.  If I try to start it it will restart and stay up.  Logs attached.   I also attached the Windows error message that pops u[p sometimes when trying to restart Emby Server (server.txt)

Hi, try installing from the website on top of your existing version. After doing this you'll need to use the plugin catalog to install a compatible version of cover art. You should be good to go at that point. Thanks.

try re-installing Emby Server?...or Emby for WMC?

Emby Server.

That's what I assumed.

I went to the web site and downloaded the stable release.  Double clicked that once on my machine and it said Emby Server Downloading.......then that changes to say Extracting Program.  That window stays up about 30 seconds then closes.  And The Mediabrowser installer disappears from task manager.  Nothing else happens after that.  I rebooted and tried it all over.  No change.  I right clicked and installed as admin, no change.

Hmmmmm.....

Make sure emby server isn't running when you try to do that.

Is the server tray icon running? Perhaps it succeeded and launched the server.

Unfortunately, no, the icon is not int he tray and the app is not running according to task manager.

In that case, how to report a problem. Thanks !

Thanks Luke, but isn't that what I did?  I just clicked the link you provided and I'm not sure what else I would do that I haven't already done/attached?

I created a topic in the relevant community.  I described the problem...hopefully it made sense.  I gave the observed symptoms.  I attached the logs.

Hope I'm not sounding like a tool....

Sorry my mistake. Yes you've done that but I treated it as starting new based on the installer thing.

What happens now if you just try to run emby server as before?

Well, seems I can no longer start Emby Server.  The short cut is gone.  I tried running all the executables in the media browser folder as admin EXCEPT for the uninstaller.  Nothing happened.

I attached the server-install log.  Hopefully that can shed some light??

The log seems to indicate that it went OK. What about this file, can you run this?

C:\Users\SERVER\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\system\EmbyServer.exe

I had tried that one earlier.  Just tried it again, but still no dice.  I had Task Manager running as I double clicked it, but literally nothing happened.

Have you made sure your windows installation is up to date with windows updates?

GEEZUS !

When I built the server (and the HTPC as well which runs Emby WMC), SP1 was already on my Windows 7 disc (I streamlined SP1 into it).  Then I turn off updates.  Apparently one of the updates obviously fixed something that was broke in Win7 that a newer version of Emby needed to work.

I took your advice and re-enabled WU.  Installed all the fixes and even the security patches. All working again!

Although when the server PC restarts I still get this :

But at least everything appears top be functioning normally now.

THANKS LUKE...You the man....I seriously feel so stupid for not checking something so simple as a windows update........
