Can someone clarify for me how:

 

If I have 1 standard schedules direct source and 1 XMLTV source setup in Emby how is the guide updating handled?

 

I am guessing that as long as the XMLTV cache file is updated via other means - scheduled task etc -- that when the refresh guide task runs it will update everything.

 

Is that correct?

 

Also how the guide itself is it going to display the channels separately for each source?

 

I thought I had a handle on this but apparently I do not. I am just trying to add sort of a fall back to Emby. With all the issues that have been occurring lately with a standard SD setup.

 

I am having an issue getting SD XMLTV data to work properly, don't see any channels to map. Zap2it XMLTV data seems to work normally after mapping the channels.

If I understand orrectly you have only 1 Tuner source but Multiple guide sources?

 

So there will not be two sources as it were.

 

The guide refresh will overwrite each other and possibly cause issues.

 

I understand your frustrations with SD at the moment.  Certainly work needs to be done in emby to NOT DELETE existing guide data when there are issues. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM.  However over the longer term the inbuilt emby/SD guide refresh has been remarkably stable over the last 12 months.
