wedgekc 12 Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 (edited) I have a Mini M8S Amlogic S905 running the latest Android TV. It has never given my any problem until now. Movies that I have watched before frequently lock the box. Sometimes after deleting data and cache I can get them all to play but usually not. Also, after the box locks the server continues to think the video is still playing normally and continues to countdown the playing time. I should add that I installed Emby for Android and everything plays normally. Thanks emby server.log Edited November 11, 2017 by wedgekc
Solution ebr 16179 Posted November 11, 2017 Solution Posted November 11, 2017 It is very difficult for us to troubleshoot things like this with these non-standard boxes - especially with video playback. My best guess is that the box is running out of memory. I also imagine the mobile app was transcoding whereas the TV app was direct playing but I'd have to see specific examples to verify that. 1
wedgekc 12 Posted November 12, 2017 Author Posted November 12, 2017 Thanks for the quick response. I'm not quite sure I know what you mean by "non-standard". Is it because it is not a Shield? Where I live getting a Shield is not possible. Is my phone also "non standard" because it has a MediaTek processor? It sounds like an easy way to not deal with my issue. I'm willing to concede my box could be the problem but my initial thought was it was a software issue. Everything was working great, I watched half a tv series without issue and now it crashes the box 80 percent of the time I try yo play videos from that same series. Kodi and other video players play the file just fine. I also imagine the mobile app was transcoding whereas the TV app was direct playing but I'd have to see specific examples to verify that. The videos are x265 so the mobile app will not transcode them and there is no transcode log on the server. Can you help explain the following from the log file. I am not exactly sure what it means aside from the obvious? 2017-11-12 09:36:03.837 Info HttpServer: HTTP Response 500 to 192.168.10.21. mastrmind11 722 Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 non-standard meaning a box running a bootleg ATV distro, ie, not an official ATV device. Have you profiled the memory usage on your device when this is happening? How about your server?
ebr 16179 Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 The next time this happens, please note the exact time and the name of the Emby user logged in and then come report that here. Thanks.
wedgekc 12 Posted January 1, 2018 Author Posted January 1, 2018 Hey guys, Thanks for the feedback and sorry for taking a while to respond. Surprisingly, it appears to have been a network issue. The problem started happening a couple of days after upgrading my switch. It seems there was an issue between the new 1gps switch port and the 100mbps port on the Android box with a large amount of packet errors. It has been flawless after turning on flow control for the android box port. Again, thanks for the help.
