amaga 4 Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Hi I've been a long time Emby user running on Emby Theater for Windows. Recently, I migrated to Emby for Samsung after discovering how to install it being in Brazil. I have 2 Samsung TVs at home - one running Tizen (software version 1501) and another running Orsay (software version 2108). On Tizen, I'm able to change the audio track on my mkv's. However, when I try it on the older tv, the app freezes. I'm attaching the server logs hoping this will help figuring out the problem. Also, being a new user for the Samsung App, I have 2 things I would like to figure out - first, is it possible to configure the Tizen app to remove the black background behind subtitles (this doesn't happen on the Orsay app). Secondly, is it possible to configure the Samsung App to access files on the network share directly, without the need to transcode? And finally, thanks for this super platform you guys created!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2017-11-08 21:11:33.339 Info HttpServer: HTTP Response 200 to 192.168.1.139. Which Orsay app are you talking about, the unofficial app which is no longer developed, or the official Orsay app from the Samsung store? The official Orsay app has a black box around subtitles on my TV, I believe this is a known issue with both official apps. If you're running the third party Orsay app make sure you're running v2.2.3 which fixed a few issues with multiple audio file selection. Edited November 9, 2017 by FrostByte
amaga 4 Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Since I'm in Brazil, I didn't download it directly from the store because it isn't available in the Brazilian store. Had to follow this procedure: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/9869-samsung-smart-tv-app-install-instructions/?p=277344 How do I find out what version of the app I'm running? And how to I install the third party app v2.2.3 to see if it fixes this issue? Thanks!!!!
FrostByte 5392 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 What is the model number of the TV we are talking about? That would help a lot in answering your questions. Ok, if you followed the instructions on the link you posted above then you are using the third party Orsay app, so if that's what you used then you may need to update it. You can see the version # of the third party app on the splash screen when it first starts or you can also go to settings and all the way over to About and it will show the version there also. If you haven't updated it in the last couple of weeks then it's probably an older version which has been fixed now. If you do have something older than 2.2.3 then just follow those instructions again to update -- To use the official app in Brazil you would have to change the region of your TV to US then you can load the app from the Samsung store. There is an Orsay and Tizen official app now
amaga 4 Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Thanks - I'll try to update it tonight. 1
amaga 4 Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 FrostByte, it worked!!!! Thanks for the help!!!! Do you know if there is a way for the Samsung app to access files on the network directly, or do they all necessarily have to be streamed? 1
FrostByte 5392 Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 FrostByte, it worked!!!! Thanks for the help!!!! Do you know if there is a way for the Samsung app to access files on the network directly, or do they all necessarily have to be streamed? I don't believe so. The app which came with my TV can see my folder structure on the server and play them, but it's kind of lame
amaga 4 Posted November 11, 2017 Author Posted November 11, 2017 What I meant is that, even though the files are shared through the network, the server has to transcode them to the Samsung TV app. If I play them from the Emby Theater for Windows app, then they play them directly, without the need to transcode. Is this also possible in the Samsung TV app?
Luke 42078 Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Most formats should direct play with our orsay app, yes.
FrostByte 5392 Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 (edited) What I meant is that, even though the files are shared through the network, the server has to transcode them to the Samsung TV app. If I play them from the Emby Theater for Windows app, then they play them directly, without the need to transcode. Is this also possible in the Samsung TV app? Sorry, misread your question. As long as your files are within the specifications that your TV supports you should be good. If the file has an unsupported codec, etc which your TV doesn't support then it will transcode. An app running on a HTPC will probably always support more than an app running on your TV. In your user manual look for these pages. Example from my 2014 Edited November 11, 2017 by FrostByte
