No https access listed on Dashboard

Hello,

I installed emby server on a new computer and everything appeared to go well: added media folders etc. no problems. Tried to access using local IP address with port 8920 but not able to.

In Advance settings the port 8920 is listed as local and remote. BUT in the Dashboard there is only http access shown on port 8096 both lan and wan.

Port forwarding on router is set correctly.

Windows firewall has port 8920 enabled.

Bottom line. I cannot access the server using 8920 only 8096 = not acceptable when not at home.

I have highlighted some text from the Initial log after install:-

2017-11-08 13:54:04.443 Info Main: Tray icon path: C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\electron\embytray
2017-11-08 13:54:05.227 Info App: Application version: 3.2.36.0
2017-11-08 13:54:05.284 Info App: Application configuration:
    {"EnableUPnP":true,"PublicPort":8096,"PublicHttpsPort":8920,"HttpServerPortNumber":8096,"HttpsPortNumber":8920,"EnableHttps":false,"EnableNormalizedItemByNameIds":false,"IsPortAuthorized":false,"EnableCaseSensitiveItemIds":true,"DisableLiveTvChannelUserDataName":false,"PreferredMetadataLanguage":"en","MetadataCountryCode":"US","SortReplaceCharacters":[".","+","%"],"SortRemoveCharacters":[",","&","-","{","}","'"],"SortRemoveWords":

Any ideas please?

TIA

I think this will happen if you don't have a SSL certificate loaded in the "custom SSL certificate path" server dashboard - advanced. This could also happen if Emby server isn't loaded with the correct password for the SSL certificate. Are you running on windows or Linux?

Does your server log show a SSL certificate error?

Hey may not have an ssl cert at all.

As others have mentioned HTTPS will not work without an SSL cert.  You'll need to obtain one through a service like letsencrypt or purchase one.  Self signed certs will not work for clients.

Let's encrypt is a great free option.

Hi,

Thank you all for your replies. I didn't get any notifications that you replied; my settings must be wrong :-(

FTR. I am 100% sure I had no certificate on my previous installation yet I had https access. On the new PC installation I do not.

No mention of SSL in any of the logs.

Let's Encrypt not an option at the moment.

Will have to use Plex (aaaaargh) until I get this sorted.

Hi All,

Well at least I again have https access to the server.

However I have been trying to use sslforfree (posts in this forum) and whilst I get to see the /.well-known/acme-challenge file, I fail to get the certificate. But that's a problem for another post.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply.

ciao

Good day,

I look to your profile, and seem all fine, I can suggest that you go to your settings (under your name - top forum right) and at notification options and edit some option and click on save.

My best

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. I have ticked nearly all email notifications so hopefully I will get some feedback - probably for everything. Then I can trim it back as necessary.

Have a great day!
