Emby Connect With VPN?

I currently have my Emby server running behind a VPN service. The VPN provider has given a forwarded port which I have set within the Emby server. I can access everything remotely by using (VPN IP):(VPN Forwarded Port) just fine, and can play on Fire Stick using that IP and port manually too, however I can't get Emby Connect to work.

I have the Emby account assigned on the server itself, and on the Fire Stick have chosen to add an Emby Connect account. It gives me a PIN and website along with Next, Add Manually or Close. I visit the website and add my username, password and the PIN on screen and submit it, after which I get a confirmation on the website. Nothing happens on the Fire Stick so I presume I need to click Next. After doing so, however, I get the "Linked to Emby Connect" button on the main server menu but no servers are listed.

Is this because I'm running a VPN or is this some kind of bug? I don't know how this service is supposed to work as I've never seen it working.

On the above page all it says is:

Start by signing up for Emby Connect. Then ask the owner of an Emby Server to invite you to use their server.

But how do I invite someone to see my server? The only place I can find anywhere to enter an Emby account on the server configuration is if I create a new user and enter it in the "Emby username or email address" box

On that same page where you created a new user, you have the option to create a "Guest".  That is someone that will be invited via Connect.

Linking should also work but the Guests are easier.

In each case, however, an email will be sent to that user with a link in it that they must click to activate the link.  Did you do that part?

Looks like it wasn't linked to an Emby account in the first place, when I clicked on Add Guest it prompted me for my Emby username before I could add any guests. I've now done this and it seems to be properly registered so will test it when I get home.

Thank you both for your quick response :)

Thanks for the feedback. That whole looking process is covered in the wiki article I linked to.
