Karlsson 0 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 (edited) Emby has suddenly started to show file extensions (.mp4/.mkv...) in titles. Is this a bug or a "feature"? How do I remove it. It's annoying. Edited October 31, 2017 by Karlsson
Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Is the media Identified? How about a screenshot.
Luke 42081 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 hi @@Karlsson, we don't show file extensions. can you provide what happy2play asked for? thanks.
d00zah 149 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Also seeing this since installing 3.2.35.0 (MAYBE 3.2.34.0?). Library type 'Home Videos...'. Type/extension doesn't seem to make a difference. Happens with each new addition. Editing Title & saving fixes it but it shouldn't happen in the 1st place.
Luke 42081 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 It is resolved for the next release, thanks !
d00zah 149 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Negative, the original video & all other frequent additions did NOT include extension in Title until the update. Just copied & converted those 2 to generate examples. Now, it happens every time a new file is added. None of these videos include tags.
Luke 42081 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 It is resolved for the next release, thanks !
d00zah 149 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Sorry, you replied while I was composing. Time to de-compose...
Karlsson 0 Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 The "fix" only removed file extensions on newly added files.
d00zah 149 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Editing/saving the Title field of affected items was the direct fix while the bug was present. Wasn't a huge inconvenience, as I recall.
Luke 42081 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Correct. It's not necessarily safe to retroactively go back and change existing titles because some people undoubtedly would be negatively affected by that. Thanks.
Karlsson 0 Posted November 30, 2017 Author Posted November 30, 2017 Correct. It's not necessarily safe to retroactively go back and change existing titles because some people undoubtedly would be negatively affected by that. Thanks. The bug retroactively changed the title on ALL files... so the harm is already done...
Luke 42081 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Apologies for the disruption. Unfortunately it's not so easy to reverse automatically without potentially upsetting others.
Karlsson 0 Posted February 6, 2018 Author Posted February 6, 2018 Your fix also didn't fully fix the bug. Now it keeps things in brackets like [action, comedy] and (1975).
Karlsson 0 Posted February 6, 2018 Author Posted February 6, 2018 Of course, if brackets and its contents should be removed or not from titles should really be an option in the settings.
Luke 42081 Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Can you discuss a specific example? Thanks.
