After the latest update, my collections were missing. I re-scanned and that seemed to add the collections back. But now I notice that literally all of the cast & crew pics are missing. Is there any way to link these back? I don't want to have to manually add them all again.

Have you tried running the people refresh scheduled task?

yes, this corrected it. Thanks!

This partially solved the issue. The people images that were initially missing are now back. So that's good. But if I click on the person's image to edit their "profile", it is blank. It's almost as if the profile also needs to be refreshed. I tested this by manually refreshing one actor and it synced everything back up for that one actor. Any ideas?

I have actually seen this for quite awhile, but I thought it was just from my rebuild.

Unfortunately no, only manual refreshes when finding a person with this issue.

I have the same problem, and I am not really happy with it. I restored my backup from v3.2.34 and everything is back. So i cannot update to this latest version before this problem is fixed.

When i look in the database with DB Browser I see that for every person i have 2 entrys, one whitch has all the information and a second without any information. Only the guid differs. Is there a way to combine these 2?

I discoverd that i can reproduce the problem with the previous version (v3.2.34) by changing a setting in the system.xml file.

In my v3.2.34 install the setting for "enable localized guids" was set to false, when i updated to v3.2.35 this setting was gone from the system.xml file. So i tried to change this to "true" on my v3.2.34 install and all my libraries where gone, when i changed it back to "false", everything was back. I didn't do a library scan between changing these settings.

<EnableLocalizedGuids>false</EnableLocalizedGuids>

Is Emby now defaulting to this setting to be "true"? How can we migrate our data to this new setting?

I tried adding this setting back to the system.xml file in a v3.2.35 install, but was not accepted and was removed from the system.xml file.

That old hidden config switch had to go because it was creating too much troubleshooting for users with very old installations. There is no way to bring it back unless you revert to 3.2.34 and then add the value back to your xml file.

If the ability to write/read from people.xml files was still there I could recover all my data. I thought you where going to bring it back? We discussed it here https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/43175-problem-with-persons-files-in-metadata-folder/

So you are saying that i lost all my people information and no way to recover it?? I have been building my database in Emby from june 2014 and made a lot of custom edits and they are all lost now because there is a change in the database? Shouldn't it be better to implement a way to migrate data from an old database to a new database when you implement these kind of changes?

And why was this not communicated in the release notes?

@PeteMB: agree fully in the above.

I would, too, appreciate very much to get back the ability to read people.xml files.

Both in case of a crash/restore - but also like you to be able to manually maintain info.

I have for instance friends and family members on some of my videos - and the lookup of course doesn't work for these.

At best they are not found - at worst found as adult actors  ;)

For my usage I could wish a plugin running under scheduler - leaving it up to me when to run the refresh.

I also have a LOT of custom videos on my server with non-professional actors that I've spent many years maintaining by hand and/or with the old MetaBrowser. I'm 100% for the ABILITY to have automation and modernization, but IMO local data files should ALWAYS come before automated downloads (or, in this case, totally lost data) unless Emby is specifically told otherwise. Is it not possible to have an OPTION (disabled by default is fine) that causes library scans to check local data, and use it where present? Even if it doesn't update it automatically?

The ability to do my own maintenance was the primary reason I chose Emby over a decade ago. Again, HUGE, MEGA respect for all the work everyone has done on it, and I've paid for Premiere twice myself, but this kind of thing is really frustrating!

BTW, does this mean that Emby is no longer reading "movie.xml"? It would be helpful to know exactly what it IS doing with regards to local metadata, actually.

Emby's default out of box metadata format is .nfo files.

There is a community built plugin in the Emby plugin catalog which adds support for reading movie.xml, if that's what you need. Thanks.

That's what we've always done and this has never changed. Therefore, nothing to be frustrated about.

Sorry about that. I've spend the last 2 days re-doing my QNAP server and I kind of freaked. Thanks for the head's up about the plugin.

May I ask how you maintain the actor metadata?

The mentioned plugin gives the relation between movies and actors - not the metadata.
