Emby Grouping 10 seasons under season 1

I recently had to reinstall and setup Emby after my SSD died. I'm having issues with one of the tv shows I have: Stargate SG1. I cannot for the life of me get emby to display this correctly. Basically there's 212 episodes and 10 seasons. No matter what I do, emby displays all 212 episodes under season 1.

The files are setup like this.

\\DESKTOP-SIDJ08C\TV Shows\Stargate SG-1

With a sub-folder for each season. Each file follows the naming scheme required.

Previously had no issue on my last install; it all showed up fine as expected. Not sure what's going on this time around.

I've tried removing the whole series and moving it back over and it still does the same thing.

Attached server log.

Can you show a screenshot of the files? Thanks.

Sure. Here's a view of the seasons 1-3. Let me know if you need more.

Ok, try using the emby metadata editor to check the season folders and make sure they have the correct season numbers. if they are correct, then try checking some of the episodes underneath. let us know the outcome. thanks.

The Metadata Manager is also displaying all episodes under Season 1. Each episode appears to have the correct metadata info other than the Season. As you can see with the included screenshots.

Well you show s01e01 but tmdb shows s02e01 in this screenshot example (post #5).

Did Emby provide the metadata?

Yes, it appears all the episode information is correct. Emby for some reason though is displaying them all as Season 1.

That's the problem. Emby is displaying every season under season 1. The episode that was screenshot is S02E01, the file is labeled as S02E01, however Emby is displaying it as S01E01 but with the metadata for S02E01. It is doing this for all episodes.

Where is the metadata?  Do any of the additional season show at all?  What do you see in Metadata Manager?  Only one season?

So, I was able to resolve this issue. Bit of a hassle. In order for Emby to properly display each season, I had to remove it from the server again. Moved the entire folder out of the media drives. Then created a new folder in the media drives for Stargate SG-1 and then put the episodes into that folder without any sub-folders to separate by season.

So all 212 episodes in \\media\tv shows\stargate sg1. Instead of how I had it: \\media\tv shows\stargate sg1\stargate sg1 - season 1 (2, 3, 4 etc.)

So, after running a library scan again all 10 seasons finally showed up. What was great, is I was then able to add the sub-folders for each season back in, move the files to their appropriate season sub-folder and run another library scan. After this, all 10 seasons are appearing as they should and everything seems to be in order.

There's probably just an issue with the number in the season folder. you also could have just named your season folders "Season 1", "season 2", etc.

Allways had some issues when the series name is in the filename. Ever used Filebot ? Great tool for renaming, can make directories of individual seasons as well

Just an OCD thing, I will try that though. Turns out it wasn't actually resolved after I moved the video files back into their season folders. All episodes appear under season 1 still, however this time Seasons 3-10 were visible too. It's weird.

I've been using the service for almost 2 years and never had an issue until just now and it's only this Show too. It's just some weird bug but in the grand scheme of things not really an issue. I tried Filebot before and wasn't really a fan. I use The Renamer to rename and then manage my own directories.

@@Luke, I am experiencing this also.  It's only on one series where season 7 in webapp, roku, etc. is in season 6 folder.  all episodes are named correctly, all season folders are named correctly, the .nfo files are labeled for season 7.  everything is set up the way it should be and the way it is for all the other series i have.  not sure why it's showing them in the wrong place.

Check the season and episode numbers for each episode using the metadata manager.

yes, in my post i mentioned those are all correct.  same as all the other 75 series i have.  do you even read the posts or just resort to user error as the problem?

Posted

As part of troubleshooting i need to see it myself because very often users will say they are filled in but it's only in the filename and they're not realizing i'm asking about the server metadata.

i understand. in the first picture a few posts up, it shows it's recognized as season 7 on the right side, but the left side is a continuation of season 6.  I couldn't fit it all in to the image.

can you try refreshing that series from the series detail screen? then give it a few minutes and see if that corrects things.

also check the season numbers on the seasons. thanks.

ok, I tried that before but I did it again using all 3 of the options for refreshing.  It didn't work.  So I went on the hard drive and took out season 7, then refreshed.  Season 6 then showed as expected (with just the episodes for S6 in the metadata manager).  Then I went back in and added season 7 again and refreshed.  All season 7 episodes showed back up under S6 in metadata manager.  Very strange.

Do they show up in season 7 as well, or only season 6?

Posted

only six.  season 7 doesn't show at all in metadata manager

Hi

I have a problem I haven't seen before where season 3 of a series has linked with season 1 and season 3 is not available as it normally is. Hopefully the screenshots attached gives all the details needed. Anything else you need please let me know.

Thanks
