We are working on improving external subtitle handling in the app in the new 1.5.x beta cycle.  If you are a heavy user of subtitles - especially external subtitle files, please consider joining the beta program and helping to test.  Please report issues you find in the beta forum.

Thanks!

Yesterday I noticed that if you have multiple external subtitles (e.g. Dutch, English, Japanese) only the subtitle that is first in alphabetical order will play.

For example when I selected the Dutch sub, Dutch was shown. Picking English or Japanese would result in the Dutch subtitle showing as well.

This is on a Shield TV with the 1.5.x beta. Didn't have this issue on 1.4.x. Internal subtitles don't have this issue.

I will see if I can do some more testing tonight.

Did some more testing and its not the first sub in alphabetical order that gets picked but the subtitle Emby sees first.

Example of subtitles shown from the subtitle menu top to bottom

None

Dutch

English
Japanese

Result: The Dutch subtitle will always play regardless of the language you choose.

Example 2

None

Japanese

English

Dutch

Result: the Japanese subtitle will always play regardless of the language you choose.

In my profile I got subtitles set to always play and English as the preferred language.

Hi.  Can you please reproduce this problem sending an in app log and then post the information requested in a new post down in the Android testing forum?

Thanks.
