b0dyr0ck2006 57 Posted November 27, 2017 Author Posted November 27, 2017 I’m sure I’ve explained it, Emby server is unstable and has been for a month or two, it is random, so it seems. The server will be up and running fine, allowing streams both locally and remotely. Transcoded data and direct stream all work great. Then for some unknown reason and without warning you can no longer connect remotely. Checking the server admin page it seems the server is still running fine, but a reboot and remote can connect again. This scenario happens over and over without reason, apparently. When I left this morning the server was up and running with no updates waiting and I could connect remotely (using the external ip) but when I try to connect at 9pm remotely I cannot use connect to locate the server. From looking through the logs there are lots of disconnections and http issues, along with ffmpeg errors. This all seems to be related to updates in some way, unless it is just coincidence 1

Luke 42078 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Logs from yesterdays fall over I see a potential problem. You're using an external app that is hammering Emby Server with lots of requests in a short period of time. Just search your logs for RestSharp. Is this coming from Ombi? Please try the following: Shutdown Ombi and leave it shutdown Uninstall all plugins except for Backup - all of the plugins you've installed, especially cover art, will result in increased resource consumption. Thanks.
b0dyr0ck2006 57 Posted November 28, 2017 Author Posted November 28, 2017 I noticed the reference to omby as well and found it lurking in the process explorer. I thought I had removed that, I’ll strip back all the add ons. I thought cover art would be fine as it’s developed by ebr?

Think of it along the lines of video transcoding for individual images. All of the cover art image processing features happen on the fly.
Luke 42078 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 When Ombi is doing it's work it's sending about 40 requests per second, so that is probably the biggest issue here.
b0dyr0ck2006 57 Posted November 28, 2017 Author Posted November 28, 2017 Just for reference the server is: i5 3570k 4GHz 32GB Corsair RAM 8 TB storage 120GB SSD GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Surely this is more than man enough to handle the image processing?
Luke 42078 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 I don't think image processing is the biggest issue, it's just easier for me to ask you to remove everything and start with a clean slate.
b0dyr0ck2006 57 Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 All removed, I’ll monitor it over the next few days and report back
