nyplayer 90 Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 It appears that the new fire TV 4k does not do hardware decoding of mpeg2 ... the only way to view is to force transcoding to H264.
ebr 16174 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Hi. This isn't a problem with the Emby app, correct? It is properly transcoding and playing the content?
nyplayer 90 Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 (edited) Hi. This isn't a problem with the Emby app, correct? It is properly transcoding and playing the content? The Fire TV 4K is just not powerful enough to play some channels using MPEG2 Direct Stream so I had to set it to 15 Mbits/sec to force Emby to transcode the stream then it plays. I tried it with the NIC adapter same problem. It fails with HdHomerun App and other apps that do not do transcoding ... stay away from the FireTV 4k if you can stay with the older model. See this Video. Edited October 27, 2017 by nyplayer 1
