muppets4 24 Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 This is great. Just installed it. Looks terrific. Not working: - sound on live TV. Live TV sound on other devices working good. Just not on the LG app. Selected is MPEG2 audio, but also 5.1 fails to work Left to be desired: - play and pause buttons on my LG remote do not work (yet) - (known issue) recordings are mostly absent (using DVBLink plugin)
Luke 42077 Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 For live tv can you attach the emby server log? you can learn how to do that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks !
coolspot 22 Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 Just watched first show on LG app! Worked well! Thanks Luke. Like muppets4 said, the only thing I noticed as far as an addition is get the play and pause buttons working so I don't have to use the arrow keys to highlight and select, but I can work around that issue! My LG was my last holdout on apps I needed so I appreciate the work!
muppets4 24 Posted October 26, 2017 Author Posted October 26, 2017 (edited) Log attached. Started 16.18 on 26-10. I'd like to add that recordings do have sound, as opposed to live TV. Subtitles of recordings work, but only after disabeling them and enabeling them again. Log.txt Edited October 26, 2017 by muppets4

bardmaster 17 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Hi @@Luke I'm trying an LG WebOS 3.5 TV (LG 43UJ6300) and am experiencing the same issue. App works GREAT, recorded video is fine (and fires up quickly), but the Live TV only shows video with no audio. The video does play smoothly, however! Attached are my logs - after a courtesy server reboot! Log.txt Log (ffmpeg).txt
bardmaster 17 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 My immediate critical findings: 1) No audio on Live TV streams (as mentioned above by @@muppets4 and I confirmed) 2) Last state does not refresh on the video's main menu until you exit the screen and go back in (ex: I hit play and watch a while, then hit BACK and there is no option to RESUME) 3) All the remote playback buttons (FF, RW, Play, Pause) don't appear to work
barnum 5 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Thanks for the feedback. Hi Luke, do you have take in account the PB for subtitles ? Barnum
bardmaster 17 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 In doing some research on the lack of sound, it appears like the mpeg stream coming through with my Xfinity live TV has AC3 which is not transcoded by Emby, as noted in the mpeg log: Stream mapping: Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (mpeg2video (native) -> h264 (libx264)) Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (ac3 (native) -> ac3 (native)) The only codec specs I could find for the LG WebOS platform is 2 years old but suggests it can NOT handle AC3: http://www.lg.com/uk/support/product-help/CT00008334-1435836452324-others Recommend we have ffmpeg transcode the AC3 into AAC which is supported.
barnum 5 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 What is the PB?I mean do you have take in account the thread that is open for subtitle not display Regards
muppets4 24 Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 I mean do you have take in account the thread that is open for subtitle not display Regards My subtitles seem to work great. Only subtitles of live TV do not. You have to disable them and enable again to get them working. Most of my subs are in art format Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G930F met Tapatalk
bardmaster 17 Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 In doing some research on the lack of sound, it appears like the mpeg stream coming through with my Xfinity live TV has AC3 which is not transcoded by Emby, as noted in the mpeg log: Stream mapping: Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (mpeg2video (native) -> h264 (libx264)) Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (ac3 (native) -> ac3 (native)) The only codec specs I could find for the LG WebOS platform is 2 years old but suggests it can NOT handle AC3: http://www.lg.com/uk/support/product-help/CT00008334-1435836452324-others Recommend we have ffmpeg transcode the AC3 into AAC which is supported. Actually upon further review...if Emby is transcoding to H264 with AC3 in the .TS container the specs I linked to suggest it SHOULD work, since it says it supports Dolby Digital (which I understand is the AC3 codec). So I'm not sure if transcoding to AAC is the answer here to getting the sound to work.
Luke 42077 Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 We've figured it out internally and it's resolved for the next release of the app. thank guys. 2
bardmaster 17 Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 We've figured it out internally and it's resolved for the next release of the app. thank guys. Hey @@Luke, just for my own planning purposes, do you guys have a planned release date? Also, did the issue with playback buttons get resolved in the next release? Thanks!
bardmaster 17 Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 (edited) Also, is there any way we can have video settings to set transcoding to various levels like the Roku server? As you can see from the attached logs I am transcoding at 60+ fps and these TVs are meant to be used with wi-fi. The video can get a little choppy with a 25Mbs download-speed ISP. Or potentially just throttle at 30fps or something? (like we did for Roku but somehow it undid itself - part of a separate post) Log.txt Log (1).txt Edited November 2, 2017 by bardmaster
Luke 42077 Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Yes but we had to hide things to get this app approved, and the app store testers won't spend more than a minute getting to know your software so if they don't understand something it's like instant rejection. Now that the app is in the store we can expose more features one release at a time. You can play with http://tv.emby.media to see the full feature set that will gradually become available.
bardmaster 17 Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Looks great! Of course I can't test that the controller works like it should. No option for a beta app like in Roku?
Luke 42077 Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Have you explored the buttons on the home screen?
mbc0 68 Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 When I start the emby app (after doing the emby pin) it takes me straight to the media libraries, if I press the back button on the remote it exits the app, the only other button available is the user icon if I click that all I can do is exit and change server?
mbc0 68 Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 OK, I will start from the beginning. I installed the app, signed in to my Emby Premiere account then carried out entering the pin to connect to the server. so the app then connected and shows all my media for the server owner. If I click sign out of the app it then prompts me to enter the pin again? I have tried this a few times and go round the same loop, I did the same process on my Android TV & Devices and they all present me the list of users on the server after signing out, this LG one just requests the pin activation each time?
