There is some mis-information floating around this thread. The issue is not write access. It actually just failed to connect to your smb share:

Have you verified the share is available?

The share is available, I'm connected to it through Nautilus, also it's one of the shares that Emby was connected to the first time I installed it (using the old method). It never completed a scan then, but it did start one. I've also tried some other folders that worked the first time, all gave the same error.

 

FWIW it's an anonymous read-only share on a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine.

 

The message I'm receiving is very specific:

 

        Emby Server requires write access to this folder.

           Please ensure write access and try again.

                          [Got It]

 

Is this the message displayed for any connectivity failure?

I'm assuming that the "this" refers to the folder I just typed in, maybe the error message should list the folder it's having problems with?

The SMB access problem is resolved for the next release of Emby server, as well as the error message asking for write access. That was simply the wrong error message being displayed. Thanks !
