single/duplicate entries

accessing my videos/episodes/music stopped working when attempting to load/view them from the laptop & tv.. after a lil trial and error, i got the movies (so far) to work properly again, but now, on the server interface i have 2 entries for each item, both of which play just fine locally.  on the metadata manager, only 1 item for each title is displayed.  when accessing remotely through kodi, there now appear 3 entries, two copies give direct play errors, while the third copy plays just fine.

I can manually go to each entry on kodi and delete it without any apparent problems. however, I have well over 1,000 entries and am hoping for some more efficient manner to clean things up.

Also, I'd like to remove the duplicate entries on the emby local web interface, without deleting the actual file.

How would I accomplish these tasks without destroying the data, starting over, etc?

Hi there @@inferus-vir, have you by any chance duplicated any folder paths in Emby library setup? Thanks.

not directly duplicated.. i had originally set everything up as (drive letter):\movies\A(B,C,D, etc)\(movie name).  that worked fine, then stopped..

researching forums etc, i found this causes problem, and using UNC was the recommended solution.

tried (\\drive name\(movie directory)\(movie name) but the server would not recognize the path etc.

In kodi, I reassigned the movie path by the drive IP address ( \\x.x.x.x\(movie directory\(movie name))  which works in kodi, but still leaves the duplicate entries (yet only 1 nfo file, 1 movie file etc) on the drive in question.

As i said, I can manually delete the extra entries in kodi, but that's a loong job for over 1,000 entries, and, i found out the duplicate entries come back when kodi syncs with the server(?)

sorry for the delay.. been trying a few things.. apparently i made things worse.

ok.  at the moment, things look like this:

emby server is on my pc (.02/24)

i've 3 2-bay NAS storage devices on my internal network (.07/24, .14/24, 19/24)

i use a raspberry pi connected to my TV for 'primary display' (.21/24)

A few months ago, I was hacked and about 90% of one of my storage drives was wiped out, so I implemented better security throughout my network. This is where the mistakes lie (i assume).

On each NAS i created 2 users (me & my wife) gave them a password & read/write privileges, then mapped the drives onto my pc, my wife's macbook, and the raspberry pi.

Now each device reads the 'current' metadata (which sits on my pc), but the metadata hangs on update @ 10%, and no file plays if i select it, from any of the end devices.

I'm also in the process of moving a large portion of my files on the NASs to restart them under RAID 1 to have proper backups.

I initially had the 'movies' directory in one of the NASs (.07/24) \\.07\Volume_1\Movies\ and have copied them to another larger device (.14/24)

i've been unable to add the new path to emby.  I keep getting the error that emby cannot find/map the location.

i'm attaching the latest log file.

If you were hacked you should be checking your router/firewall as you most likely have the Emby ports or other ports for that matter forwarded.  Creating new NAS users and changing from mapped drives to UNC will not make it any more secure if your open to the Internet.

Agreed and i am attempting to do so.  I have implemented a version of linux on an older box using iptables, masquerading etc and placed it between my router and my internal network in an effort to properly secure my network.  It still needs work, i admit, but i think it is helping, along with the other measures in place that i mentioned.
