raven-au 17 Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 Hi all, I have tried installing the Emby for Kodi plugin and found that (so far) it doesn't fetch info. for one of my TV shows. The problem shows do have a similar name but those names are the names the shows go by on TheTVDB so I probably shouldn't need to change them. The shows are "Doctor Who" (the classic 1963 series) and "Doctor Who (2005)" the current series. Any ideas how to work around this or is it something that should be (or could be) fixed? Ian
Angelblue05 4132 Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 Provide your Kodi log. Make sure in the addon settings > advanced > you set log level to debug. Then in the webclient, try to modify the metadata in the webclient for the shows. Hit save, wait a few moments and grab the Kodi log. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm wondering how anything would find its way to the Kodi log for a show that isn't present at all in Kodi.
Angelblue05 4132 Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Yes. When you hit save in the webclient metadata info, it triggers an update in Kodi. This will show what is happening to the show when the add-on is processing the update.
tr0nllam 36 Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 I have the exact same issue with Doctor Who and The Outer Limits. It's only syncing one version of the series in Kodi. For example, if I change the community rating for Doctor Who (1963), it will update it in Kodi. If I then change the community rating for Doctor Who (2005), it will change that same rating again. It only initially syncs the episodes for one of the series, but if you update the metadata for an episode for the other series, it will then pop up in Kodi under the wrong series. Also, when the community rating is changed for one series, it replaces all the artwork for that series with the one that is changed. I made separate logs from when I changed the community rating and attached them to this post. Doctor Who 1963.log Doctor Who 2005.log
tr0nllam 36 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 (edited) I'm not sure if this is a related issue, but I just tried using EmbyCon and got a somewhat similar issue. While EmbyCon does display the series properly, if I watch an episode for one series, it reports the wrong series watched to the Trakt for Emby addon. For example, if I watch S01E01 of Doctor Who (1963), it reported that I watched S01E01 of Doctor Who (2005) to Trakt. However, the Emby server correctly identified which episode I watched, so I'm not certain where the issue is. Edited November 9, 2017 by tr0nllam
Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 (edited) Can you quickly validate in the Emby metadata manager that both series don't have the same tvdb id assigned? That's the only thing that would cause the add-on to merge series in Kodi. Edited November 9, 2017 by Angelblue05

That's the only thing that would cause series to merge in Kodi. They are using the correct TVDB ids. EDIT: I just noticed they have the same IMDB id, so that is probably the issue. Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 (edited) Ok, unfortunately, the series are already merged together. There's no way to undo that. You'll need to reset your database. But first let me check the code because I see imdb is used in some spots and tvdb in others. Btw what Kodi version are you running and did you reset database if you did upgrade kodi versions? tr0nllam 36 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 I've reset the database multiple times during this testing, so it's no big deal. I'm using the latest DSPlayer, which is Kodi 17.5. 1
Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 (edited) @@tr0nllam Ok then you are good to go. Just reset your database. And yes, for Krypton and later version, series are merged based on imdb id, not tvdb id. Edited November 9, 2017 by Angelblue05

Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Tv shows should have never been using imdb. This has been fixed with 2.3.57 which has just been uploaded. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
