What about Internet TV ?

Just wondering if internet TV and channels will be added to MB3 or will it just be Live TV only from Paid Programming and cable / Old fashion Free Tv via HD antan.

Someone would have to write a plugin to pull the streams from the various sites offering television and process those streams for playback. In MediaBrowser Theater there are a few plugins that launch apps for various British Stations. However they aren't completely integrated. However most websites don't provide an easy and legal way to record their streams as far as I am aware.

 

Would be interesting to have plugins that can forward those streams though. This is how Plex's channels work. They capture the stream protocol and play it in the client. Various XBMC addons work the same way.

I think mb3 is better off without them. Too many bugs with internet tv streaming.

That article actually shows how to embed a YouTube player in WPF using a web control.  It is quite old, but may still work.  We could use a similar technique, I'm sure, to play YouTube stuff in MBT.  However, unless these other sources have embedded players that can be done the same way, it isn't going to get Internet TV into MB.
