Mohamed Selim 24 Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 (edited) Need more info, if we use old [boxset] nested folders (c:/superman [boxset]/superman 1) what will we loss (disadvantages) rather than using the new way by adding collections manually via web interface ? Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Just the ablility to "Group movies into collections".
Mohamed Selim 24 Posted October 19, 2017 Author Posted October 19, 2017 So the movies will not be grouped (at all) or will be grouped in (separate view) or what?
ebr 16193 Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 You will potentially have to endure problems that arise due to the fact that this setup is no longer being tested regularly by the developers (see recent example). Why do you want to use this method? It isn't nearly as flexible as the one we recommend and test.
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 One additional thing you lose is the ability to store your movies wherever you want/need. You have a Star Wars collection on a drive. A new movie comes out and that drive is full. Now you need to move the whole collection over to a new drive before you can add your new movie to it. That's a hassle compared to managing the collection in the UI or with the AutoBoxSet plugin. My NAS box with an extension case has room for 2 more physical drives. In about 16TB of content I'll just plain be out of space on this system and will have to start loading content on a new physical device. The last thing I want to add to that expense is additional headaches in managing the location of my content. Let Emby do it for you.
Luke 42085 Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Newer collections also get quite a bit more testing. With the legacy collections, we often don't know about a problem until it's out in the wild already.

I will use it teporarily as 1-Naming hundereds of (custom) collections manually is tiresome and lengthy process 2- want to preserve my folder structure (coming from Kodi) until testing process of Emby finishes may be (very small percentage) will use Kodi again solely 3-Afraid that in case my OS or server crashes will loss all my custom collections (easier to rebuild in legacy folder structure) just rename [boxset] and scan but i think will use the new folder structure if i have time setting it up
