Android TV - Can't find/launch the app on a sony KD55X8509C (2015 4k)

Hey there,

I wasn't able to find emby for Android TV on the store directly from the TV, so I did a web install. Google Play Store (web) confirms that the app is installed on my TV, but can't find it anywhere.

The TV is running Android TV 6.

Does anyone have a clue ?

Thanks

I have that exact TV and the Emby client appeared in my Play Store when I went to install it. I just typed 'Emb' the auto complete feature listed it and I clicked it and it was displayed. Strangely though, if I typed the whole thing it would never find it. Assumed it was a Play Store or TV bug.

@@Luke : It's saying Emby is already installed :/

@@FunkadelicRelic : I will try that !

Weird. Also though, have you disabled the Sony Shelf app and recommendation row to speed the TV up (a common fix to make the GUI sluggishness a bit better)? If so, I noticed that sometimes not all apps show on the home screen. Check Settings - Apps - Installed apps and see if Emby is there but just hiding.

@@ebr I did not but I'll check how to, It annoys me so much to have a sluggish UI when a 30$ raspberry pi can do better :P

It's so bad huh. The fix makes life a bit better but I'm still considering getting a Roku 4k streaming stick, setting up DVR and using that as the default source so I don't have to go into Android on the TV. A real shame as the image quality is fantastic!

I managed to find the app on the store, but not on the first try... really strange  (And the app wasn't already install unlike what Web Playstore was telling me !)

Thanks for the UI speed-up tips FunkadelicRelic, it's day and night !

I still have to hack my way into the android TV app, seems some features are missing (downloading subtitles from app)... maybe I'll give a try to xbox one app as well ;)
