Channel lineup options

In my market there are HD, SD and MC channels. It would be nice to be able to toggle these 3 on or off independently. I am thinking of this as a user option if possible.

With how many different places people can see what is going on with live tv maybe putting the toggles right near live tv on the home screen.

First, we need to be able to know this information for a channel.  Right now, we know it for programs, not channels.

Both make sense, or, rather this request is a sub-set of grouping functionality.

 

However, anything like that requires data on the channels and we don't currently have that.  So that has to be figured out first.

When I http into my HDhomerun it has a small icon in the channel lineup that states HD for some of the channels. Is this metadata perhaps able to be used?

I was also thinking about this and maybe it would be even better functionality for the end users. Would it be possible to have fully customizable favorites lists?

As an example lets say emby user Alpha creates favorites list named music and HD, then they have to select which channels are in that list. The system wouldnt really have to know anything about the channels it would just be a user driven selection of channels.

With multiple favorites people could customize channel listings as much or as little as they like and emby wouldnt have to know anything about the channels.

For further parental control on the server side there could be a setting to restrict a user to certain favorites lists and block them from creating their own list or modifying the list.

I was thinking that the admin user would be responsible for creating the groups. There's too many unknowns even before you add in iptv to try and do it automatically.

This is really getting into the realm of live tv channel management feature requests which have been asked for in respect of iptv. Emby devs have said it’s on the list, hopefully moving up!
