jagojago 0 Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Lately (and maybe for a couple months actually since I don't use MB often) my movie metadata has not been showing when I click on a movie. I use Media Center Master to fetch and store images and metadata in the movie folders, and quite often I am not seeing any movie descriptions, runtime, genre, etc. load. The poster and backdrop images load fine just no text metadata. I have the latest versions of Emby and Emby Server running so I'm not sure what's going on. What could cause the metadata not to display?
jagojago 0 Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 Does the metadata show in the web app? No it does not. Interestingly if I refresh a movie's metadata from the web app it will then show up. When I refresh the entire library from the server it seems to complete but it doesn't fix the missing metadata. Do you have the XML Metadata Plugin? No I do not.
Luke 42078 Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Is MCM creating xml or nfo files? At this point xml is a legacy format for us. If you're having MCM create nfo files then you'll need to install the xml metadata plugin.
Luke 42078 Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 For a better experience, consider letting Emby create and manage your metadata. Thanks !
jagojago 0 Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 For a better experience, consider letting Emby create and manage your metadata. Thanks ! Thank you Luke for the support. For years I have been using MCM to save XML files for metadata so I will try out the XML metadata plugin for now! Guess I am currently stuck with old habits using MCM. Going forward I do want to try using Emby for all my metadata. I store my movies on a separate server on the network, but it's old and slow and doesn't run Emby server well (although it's plenty fast to serve HD movies over the network Emby server is very laggy on it). Due to this I have my movie computer act as both host and server, which points to a network share for the movie files and metadata. Is there a better way to utilize this setup? I know this is not ideal but it's the best solution I could find with the slower server at the moment.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 (edited) I still use MCM for everything so it is a choice for you to make. I assume you have "Download artwork and metadata from the internet" disabled per library since you currently have no metadata visible, correct? Edited October 17, 2017 by Happy2Play

Maybe I should just enable that setting again... Edited October 17, 2017 by jagojago
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 I am pretty sure I disabled that setting long ago, but where can I find it now? Dashboard-Library-click on each library Also looks at the Metadata tab also while your there. There is a drop-down box for each content type.

I don't see anything like this in the Dashboard-Library settings.
