Emby App always runs in backgroud

The Android Emby app seems to always run in backgroud and needs (according to the samsung energy saving app) 0,25 % of battery.

Hi.  That's how the Android OS works.  Apps only truly shut down when the system deems they can be for reclaiming resources or the user does manually using the interface the system provides (multi-window view, click on X).

What you desribe is the android activity. I mean the android service that is started by emby app. It always runs in background and seems to communicate with the emby server (I think that because immediately the android phone has an internet connection, you can see in the admin view of emby server that an user is "online" although he didn't open the app)

Its been a problem for quite a while, is there no way for an app to tell its not the active app on screen and terminate its connections?

To stop the android background service, when the app is not used.

(Nevertheless I love the android Emby app.)

Can there not be a X button in the notification? Same as Samsung Music? The permanent, un-swipable (open to suggestions on adjectives) notification is quite annoying. Don't know about others but I'd be happy with a X button which stops the background service
