dcook 299 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 So apparently if you quote @@Luke words and very politely suggest that he should hire someone to answer questions on here, https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/51604-finally-have-to-ask/?p=498479 You then get a "warning" from @@Abobader who says I violated a policy of being civil to other members and that I need to stay within the rules of the community. Warning issued by Abobader for violating the policy of being civil to other members in Profile. Given 10 points. Please stay with the rules of the community regarding posting. So how is me "quoting" @@Luke not being civil? I never called anyone any names, I never used foul language I was merely making an observation. And even if there was some rule that you are not allowed to quote what other member have said, where do I find this rule book? I can see nothing on here which lists any rules or code of conduct. Seriously, shame on you @@Abobader The conversation within the thread was also with @@CBers who is also a moderator on this forum, he never said anything that you are not allowed to "quote" anyone, and in fact he "Liked my post" So for you @@Abobader to come in here and give me a warning for some made up reason is complete bull shit, And yes I swore but you deserved that, go ahead and give me a warning for saying bullshit.
Luke 42080 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Your forum posts are bringing a high level of hostility. We would just like you to be a little more polite and civil and then we will be more than happy to work with you. As they say, you can catch more flies with honey than we vinegar 1
dcook 299 Posted October 12, 2017 Author Posted October 12, 2017 @@Luke there was nothing hostile in my post, it was an observation based on being here for a long time that you tend to blame the users and deny there is an issue. And I simply stated that perhaps it would be a good idea to hire someone to answer questions and you can focus on development. For you to then ask @@Abobader to give me a warning because I "quoted" you in my post instead of replying to my post in the thread Its your forum you can do whatever you want, but to accuse me of breaking some rule which from what I can see doesn't even exist, and even if it did exist how do you justify having a rule that you are not allowed to "quote" people in posts? Luke 42080 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 For you to then ask @@Abobader to give me a warning because I "quoted" you in my post instead of replying to my post in the thread Actually it's due to the general tone of voice you always seem to bring, not due to any one post in particular.
dcook 299 Posted October 12, 2017 Author Posted October 12, 2017 So again show me the forum rules? I would like to read them in detail to make sure I follow them. He said: Warning issued by Abobader for violating the policy of being civil to other members in Profile. Given 10 points. Please stay with the rules of the community regarding posting. So to stay in the rules, I would like to read the rules. In addition: The definition of civil refers to something related to citizens or showing good manners and being polite. An example of civil is a war between citizens of a country. An example of civil is when you are polite and say hello to someone, even if you don't like him very much. So tell me how I was not civil? I never used foul language, I normally use please and thank you and just because you don't like my observation about your responses to members issues does not make it not civil. Actually it's due to the general tone of voice you always seem to bring, not due to any one post in particular.
dcook 299 Posted October 12, 2017 Author Posted October 12, 2017 Also @@Abobader said: Good day, Not that, the warning meant to stop these acting by quoting main admin/dev words, what Luke meant as a members should look to his settings and re-setup what he need there. so clearly the warning was because I "quoted you" in my post and apparently you are not allowed to "quote" the main admin/dev ?????

dcook 299 Posted October 12, 2017 Author Posted October 12, 2017 @@Luke This is what @@Abobader sent me: Sent Today, 12:53 PM Good day, Not that, the warning meant to stop these acting by quoting main admin/dev words, what Luke meant as a members should look to his settings and re-setup what he need there. Also, they are a mod's team to answer community forum issue, or at least to rise the issue to the admin's team to look at that and solve it. My best I then respectfully request the warning to be rescinded. If you are allowed to quote, and if you look up the definition of "being civil" you will see that I was always polite and not used foul language or insulted anyone. I'm sure that isn't the case IRL but it can come off that way on the forum. Being a little more cognizant of this may get you more support from other members and the Emby devs. @@Luke I realize that you deal with a ton of requests for support everyday that fail to provide the proper information but sometimes your responses can be interrupted as being cold or treating the user as an idiot. I think the general "How to Report an issue" responses are fine but the "Why do you think this is a problem" posts come off as speaking down to the user. I get that your are requesting more information but maybe you could word it slightly different as to not seem like you are doubting there is a problem in the first place. Just my 2 cents, not that anyone asked for it. Edited October 12, 2017 by Jdiesel
