nkelly 6 Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 HI; I'm currently a plex user operating under unusual circumstances. I'm considering Emby as an alternative to Plex. I have a need to support my SD tv's in my workshop. When Plex abandoned the SD Roku 2's things got very complicated for me. Currently i have a Rasplex (raspberry pi 3) running a SD output to an SD tv distribution system in my workshop. I use a amazon fire tablet to "cast" a randomized playlist (old cartoons) to the Raspplex (because the user interface on the SD interface is barely readable). can this setup be replicated in Emby. possibly a raspberry running in SD with Kodi installed or a Roku 2 (do you support roku 2's )? will the option support randomized playlists? i'm going to install Emby and get a premiere subscription (since i want to support competition and i'm tired of Plex determining how i will enjoy my media) if i can find an Emby solution to my problem. Thanks for your help.
Luke 42089 Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 hi @@nkelly, yes I would think you can use the Emby for Kodi addon on an RPI and you'd be fine. We do also support Roku 2. @@ebr, does the new app support Roku 2 or will this require using our older app? Thanks !
ebr 16199 Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Our app isn't limited to specific models but, rather, a firmware version. So it will support any Roku running at least version 7.5 of the Roku firmware.
nkelly 6 Posted October 11, 2017 Author Posted October 11, 2017 Ok you guys convinced me to parallel install and run them side by side. Thanks for the help.
nkelly 6 Posted October 26, 2017 Author Posted October 26, 2017 Hey Guys. Overall I'm impressed with your software (just became a lifetime premiere member). Looking forward to playing with it from a premiere point of view. Do you have any idea when or if the amazon tablet app will see the light of day again? i have an android tablet which i can use to cast with until them.
