BAlGaInTl 288 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 So I've been thinking of replacing my HDHomerun legacy devices. Today I saw that SiliconDust is phasing out the current connect models with the HDHOmerun Duo and Quatro. I'd like to have the 4 tuners just in case. Right now, it's a BestBuy exclusive: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/silicondust-hdhomerun-connect-quatro-tuner-black/6079602.p?skuId=6079602 Any reason that this won't work with Emby? 2
BAlGaInTl 288 Posted October 9, 2017 Author Posted October 9, 2017 I'll probably wait until it isn't a BestBuy exclusive to see if I can find a deal on it. Every penny counts.
Nisten 15 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 At first, it looked like they removed the indicator lights but it appears to be a glass overlay in the front and the indicator lights will physically be behind it (surprised they didn't show photos of the indicator lights being lit up)

Guest asrequested Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 (edited) It wasn't you that took 2 HDHomeRuns apart and put them in your rack ?? It was, but they are primes. They are cable card devices. They don't use an antenna. Edited October 10, 2017 by Doofus

Just to add data here for you. I already purchased one and picked it up last Friday. It works great with Emby and overall I think it works better than the other models. They did change some hardware inside and I really believe my TV Reception is better with it. I am going to purchase a second one later this week. I currently have an older Connect model and two Extend devices. Now I can just have two devices and have more tuners at the same time. Plus I can't resist buying yet another device... 1
bcm00re 18 Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 @@jasonmcroy Let me know if you are interested in selling one of those Extends.

BAlGaInTl 288 Posted October 11, 2017 Author Posted October 11, 2017 @@jasonmcroy Let me know if you are interested in selling one of those Extends. SiliconDust normally has refurb Extends for around $99. I would trust them when coming straight from the source. I've actually considered one of those too.

A real techie, does NOT dispose of his retired tech devices, he "stores" them........... lol. (my closet is full of retired devices). ADT-1, Boxee Box, Dish DVTPal, plus numerous Android boxes. 2

I've actually considered one of those too. Actually, one of my 2 extend devices is maybe a refurb? When SD first released the new extend model they had an offer where if you owned the previous extend model you could send it in and they would switch the case and hardware with the new extend model for like $30.00 plus shipping. I took advantage of that one right away. It has worked great so I would trust a refurb from them. A real techie, does NOT dispose of his retired tech devices, he "stores" them........... lol. (my closet is full of retired devices). ADT-1, Boxee Box, Dish DVTPal, plus numerous Android boxes. Ha ha. Yeah, I have that shelf in my garage that "stores" my two Nexus players, my 2 Roku devices (and model 2 and 3), my Fire TV device, etc. Once I bought my first Nvidia Shield (the 2015 16gb model) I loved it so much I went out and bought the Pro model. Now they are the only streaming devices I use (with Emby server upstairs on the HTPC). I am just waiting for the Emby Server to be released for the Nvidia Shield and I will probably retire my HTPC as well.
clarkss12 304 Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 I really miss my TI 99/4A with Pbox and voice synthesizer from the 80's. But 2 divorces and several moves, it got lost somewhere. So, ALWAYS SAVE your tech devices.............. 1
Guest asrequested Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 I have a bit of a trove of riches, too 1
BAlGaInTl 288 Posted October 11, 2017 Author Posted October 11, 2017 I've had to clean out my trove a few times over the years... It's always hard. It was difficult to part with the Logitech Revue.... 1

I took a look and they show them for $99.99, but the only option is to "Read More" (i.e. - no Buy option) so I guess they are currently out of stock.
