hi, after new upgrade of Insider ring 2 (405.1709.20001.0), emby closes every time I put the caption of the video, when setting the default caption in Portuguese-br the application closes and directs me to the dashboard of xbox one, I am a user premium from emby and I no longer know what to do to watch my videos normally

Hi, so this only happens on insider? Can you provide a sample video where this occurs? Thanks.

Ok so this is a video demonstrating the issue. I was hoping to get a copy of the actual video file so that i can test it personally. is that possible? thanks.

ok, this doesn't crash for me. in fact, both subtitle tracks play fine. i'm not on insider ring 2 though. so it's fine without the subtitles enabled?

yes, without subtitles work fine, but i can`t understand my videos and series without subtitles!

I try change language to xbox for english and reinstall app but not work!

Now i reset xbox and remove all configs games and apps, but still with bug, i think is insider update bug, should be incompatible with emby, I would like to leave the insider, but I like to participate and receive the new dashboard and updates, would you guys be able to analyze the bug and see if it is incompatible with this version of insider update?

I try remove emby and all traces and configs and reinstall but not fix the problem too!

@@lokize Since you have that guy's attention, I would like you to pass something else onto him. The reason why the app never direct plays anything is because of these two issues here:

https://forums.xbox.com/en-US/thread/4010e5b4-32a9-4457-9bc8-c1c059e09aa0

https://forums.xbox.com/en-US/thread/57779d18-98f3-44dd-873d-9a0d1aba908f

The only reason the app plays anything is because we've added a workaround to always remux instead of direct play. However, I have just removed the workaround for the Edge browser version. Ask them to test video playback on Xbox One using the Edge browser pointing to http://tv.emby.media

It will crash the browser and bring you back to the Xbox Dashboard. If we can get this solved then video playback in the app will dramatically improve. As it stands now we are currently looking at resorting to a third party video player as our only solution.

@@CBers are you on xbox insider?

No.

Perfect. Can you use Microsoft Edge to open up http://tv.emby.media

Try to play a video that should direct play - for example, an mp4 with h264/aac or ac3. Can you let me know what happens? thanks.

Does it have to be an MP4, or can it be MKV?

Asking, as I don't think I have any MP4 files.

Yea unfortunately the Edge browser can't direct play mkv.

OK, I found an MP4 with AAC audio.

I played it and the dashboard said Direct Playing, but the app crashed back to the Xbox One homescreen after about 10 seconds.

Yup OK, that's what I expected, however I am on insider with the slowest ring, and I'm no longer seeing the problem. So that's good news although who knows how long that will take to roll out.
