JohnVee 18 Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Hey guys, fantastic work on this addon! I've been using it for a while now. Is it possible to create a playlist sorted by premiere date? In Emby, if you sort by release date, it displays all your movies by the date it was premiered...works perfectly. In Kodi you can sort by year, but it does this in alphabetical order, year by year. Is this something you guys can add to Emby for Kodi, or is it already possible to do?
Angelblue05 4132 Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Thanks I can't reproduce your result. My playlist sorts properly by year (not alphabetical/year). It would not be something provided by the addon. What's your kodi and skin? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
JohnVee 18 Posted October 8, 2017 Author Posted October 8, 2017 (edited) Hi Angelblue, thank you for the response. I'm on Krypton 17.4 using the Arctic: Zephyr skin on an Nvidia Shield. I'm glad to hear it works, just have to figure out what I'm doing wrong If I select movies, then go to sort by, select year...for me, it displays by (alphabetical/year). I have tried to create a playlist in the past with the same results. I'm sure I'm doing it all wrong, but would really like to have them sorted the correct way. Edited October 8, 2017 by JohnVee
JohnVee 18 Posted October 8, 2017 Author Posted October 8, 2017 In Emby, this is how movies are displayed sorted by release date. They sort correctly by the date the movie was premiered. This is how movies are displayed in kodi by date As you can see, Kodi is displaying the movies by date in descending alphabetical order.I've created my home screen movie playlist by selecting video library, Emby, and selecting movies.I have also tried this with Aeon Nox with the same results.@@Angelblue05 do you have any ideas why this isn't sorting correctly for me?
Angelblue05 4132 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 (edited) Yeah that's weird, not at all what I experience hmm. Do you use sort titles in Emby? Check Kong in the webclient > 3dots > edit info. Edited October 9, 2017 by Angelblue05 1
JohnVee 18 Posted October 9, 2017 Author Posted October 9, 2017 I do use sort titles on some movies and Kong is one of them...Good call! I checked the rest of the movies on the screenshots above, and that's the only one that has a sort title. I've done more research and I see that Kodi only records the year for the release date, not the day and month like Emby does. https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/70x18p/sorting_movies_by_release_date_in_spmckodi/ So my library seems to be sorting the way Kodi would normally do it if I wasn't using Emby. Do you have any other ideas? Thank you for your time
Angelblue05 4132 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 (edited) It's sorted by release year while Emby is sorted by release date. There's no solution unless Kodi creates a sort by release date. I don't know if adding the release date to the sort title would fool Kodi somehow...but that would be a lot of work. JohnVee 18 Posted October 9, 2017 Author Posted October 9, 2017 Oh ok, thank you for the response Angel. Adding the release date to the sort title for the amount of movies I have is not something I'm willing to do Was hoping this can be done with the addon somehow. Hopefully Kodi will implement that way of sorting in a future release. 1
Angelblue05 4132 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 (edited) I'll keep it in mind if I do come across something interesting. Edited October 9, 2017 by Angelblue05 1
