itchykill 0 Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Is the app not capable of displaying embedded subtitles? I have some titles with embedded subtitles that won't work - but then I got lucky with another title that also have embedded subtitles and that works. Am I missing someting important here? Maybe a server setting?
itchykill 0 Posted October 6, 2017 Author Posted October 6, 2017 Yes. Changed my TV from EU to US and downloaded the store. Movies with .srt works fine. Embedded not so much.
Luke 42077 Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Please discuss an example and attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
itchykill 0 Posted October 6, 2017 Author Posted October 6, 2017 Ok - so this is regarding a title called "Miss Sloane". Server log: http://wildflower.dk/serverlog3.txt The title has embedded subtitle. It would not show up in the Tizen app until an external srt was added to the movie folder. Transcode log: http://wildflower.dk/transcode.txt
Luke 42077 Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Ok that's one of those mov_text subtitles. can you provide a sample video for testing? thanks.
itchykill 0 Posted October 8, 2017 Author Posted October 8, 2017 Sorry for the delay. Here is a sample video https://youtu.be/RByeGJUQiaY BTW, kinda ironic, that I switched from PLEX because of subtitle issues with their Tizen app regarding sync problems and now I have a new subtitle problem, but with Emby instead of PLEX
itchykill 0 Posted October 8, 2017 Author Posted October 8, 2017 Or do you need the actual file itself in a sample form?
itchykill 0 Posted October 8, 2017 Author Posted October 8, 2017 I persume it has to be 100 % original including the subtitle. Any tips on how to extract a sample that also includes the sub?
itchykill 0 Posted October 8, 2017 Author Posted October 8, 2017 Apparantly MKVtoolnix can't extract the video file including the sub when the source file is an MP4 with a MOV_TEXT. So I am at loss here on how to provide the sample...
Luke 42077 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 Ok, what's happening here is we are extracting the subtitles on the fly, and for some videos or servers this can take a long time. So that's why you're not seeing subtitles, and in fact with some video players, the delay can hang up the video altogether. However, we've done some testing today and it appears that the samsung TV's can handle the mov_text format subtitles which means that starting with the next release of the app, it won't have to rely on the server extraction feature anymore. Instead it will just direct play. Let us know if this helps. Thanks. 1
