Real time monitoring not finding anything?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I've just set up emby again now that i got rar2fs working, and enabled "Real time monitoring" for all my sources. But adding a show does nothing, i checked the logs and found that the monitor is checking the drives but seems like they don't find anything?

A manual scan finds the added shows. I've tried rebooting, and re-enabling Real time monitoring but still nothing.

I've tried googling, and found people had issues with Real time monitoring not working at all or crashing but can't seem to find my issue.

Pretty new to Emby so i might've missed something, and if so i apoligize.

Thank you!

It doesn't work for all filesystems, and pretty sure a FUSE implementation is one of them.

But doesn't the real time monitoring just check the drives to see if anything "pops up"? Emby isn't connected with Rar2fs in anyway.

Have you tried actually monitoring a folder and not drive letters?

Well, i add my content to the drives so how else would i do it. I could add each and every movie individually but that would still make me have to add them manually when updating?

My structure is simply "Y:\Moviefolder\Moviefile.mkv"

Why not changed that to Y:\Movies\Moviefolder\Moviefile.mkv (point library to Y:\Movies}.

That's what a library scan does.  Real time monitoring uses a feature of the OS/Filesystem that reports to us when something changes and that is simply not supported by all OS/Filesystems.  That is why we have both methods.

As for the drive letters, if those are mapped network drives, don't do that - use a UNC path instead.

If they are actual drives attached to the system, then do try what Happy suggests as the system may not allow monitoring of an entire drive but may for a folder.

I would imagine that rar2fs is probably not signaling any realtime events, therefore the realtime monitor never gets notified.

This is probably it, because i changed the folders around with no success.

Thank you everybody for helping out!

I know this thread is ancient, but i used rar2fs a long time ago, my idea was that instead of scanning the rar2fs fuse mount, i cloned the fusemount on my local filesystem and had Plex scan the cloned folder instead. The folders were locally created folders, and the files were symlinks into the rar2fs mount.

That way, you can both realtime monitor it, and have a regular scan do its thing very fast.

How can i do this in windows environment?

@alikesdid you figure this out?

No i didnt. But if I understand Krage right, he means to clone RAR2FS drives/folders using some kind of software like deamon tools to give that drive real time monitoring capabilities.

What have you done so far?

Actually, i did get the cloned drive up and running using stablebit drivepool. But the properties of the cloned drive did not matter on the real time features.

I didnt get this to work using rClone. I wasnt able to create a cloned drive.

One last thing, the developer of rar2fs told me if i also add the source of the rar'ed library in the mediaserver, it should work as a normal dir and update using the smart features. I havent tried this yet.
