Thinking about moving from plex.

So after all the mess with plex going on lately, I discovered emby as an alternative and I have a couple of questions.

 

1. Plex has the ability to split apart items that get mismatched (or in the case of some anime a sub and a dub) and then keep them split. How do I do that with emby?

 

2. For the lifetime premier, is that 15 devices period or can I remove devices I’ve previously authorized?

for 2. - device drop off when not used (i think its around two weeks) - so its more a rolling total - also depending what client devices you have some do not count to the total

 

for 1. - could you explain a bit more not quite sure i follow what you are asking

It uses the folder structure to separate the items. Then they show up as seperate library items.

My issue is that I have two different versions of the same show (different language and episode titles) and I want them to show up as separate shows.

I'm a new Plex convert myself so this may not be the best solution but should work for you. The settings of the tv library has an option: 

Automatically merge series that are spread across multiple folders

 

 

Unchecking that should force each show to be its own item in the library which you can then identify on their own. Hope that helps.

The users has no control over this right now, but my understanding (from other topics) devices gets reauthorized weekly.

This is correct. In order for series to be automatically merged, they need to be in the same Emby library, and you need to check that box. 

 

To avoid having them merged, either disable the option or just put them in different libraries.
