You can now clone a existing user when you add a new user.

In this example I have created user "Test 1" this is my guest templet.

When your guest leaves, delete the guest.

And leave guest templet "Test 1" for the next time, then create a new from the templet.

Its like 5 clicks.

Thanks, that's nice workaround.

I would consider it more than a workaround. I personally think it makes a dedicated guest feature unnecessary.

Yes, I agree. Will be great if there will be Guest Mode available. With feature that will ask guest if he want to clean data when he leave Emby.

This is a nice idea but there are some factors that have to be taken into account. How old is the guest? (G/PG/MA/etc..). How would you decide what they have access to (movie, tv libs/live tv/virtual tv/etc..). With a self hosted server like emby it gets a complicated in that regard.

In my example I have only adults and decide what guest have access should be when guest account is create like regular accounts.

I'd love to see this feature, plus a scheduled task that could be setup to clear the guest users watched statuses.

+1 this.

I know it's an old thread and request, but I'd love to see this feature.  We have family that stays with us for a few days at a time and deleting the "guest" user and recreating it every time is getting old.

I have need of a user account with auto reset ability also.

I’m going to test using a custom script to copy/overwrite user config files on a timer. So say every Monday at 2am the guest user files get overwritten by a blank “master” copy stored in a different folder.

May or may not work, but I’m trying it soon and figured I’d share the thought with the rest of you.

@Luke but I do think an option in each user’s own profile settings to wipe their own activity would be a handy feature. Admins could enable or disable this option per user. That would be easier to implement, and would give admins the ability to give their users the ability to control the retention of their watch history.

Hi, so far I find Wizarr very helpful to make accounts for test. I can make account for one day or week and it's auto delete after that time.

Personally I think this is a good idea. It solves the guest account issue entirely while also adding additional functionality/control for regular users.

i would seperate it in a different feature request, because it is not really a guest account and it might get more traction then

like i personally do not want guest accounts for my personal use, but a clear account data button would get a vote from me

also, i think you can write a simple script using the api so it resets the user on certain triggers, for example if an uknown device gets registered to your home network, this way the server db also gets updated instead of files which need to be updated and a possible server reboot requirement
