How can I have ALL the metadata in a separate folder?  I set up a separate folder for it and some when into it but some it still in my MOVIES directory which annoys the hell out of me, maybe OCD.  When I go to MOVIES I just want to see them and not metadata.  Any idea?

What exactly is still in your movies folder?

looks like "fanart, landscape and poster" files.  My metadata folder has "people and views"

When were those files obtained, before or after changing the metadata setting?

Once you change the setting, the server will not move existing metadata. It only applies to new metadata going forward.

I set it up and THEN got the metadata.  So something must be wrong, any idea?  BTW, I came from using Plex and never saw any metadata so this is new to me.  Their new privacy policy pissed me off

how exactly did you set it up?

can you tell me how it should be setup?  Then I can figure out what I did wrong because I thought setting up the metadata folder that everything should go in there.

Click on each emby library in library setup. there is a checkbox about saving metadata in local media folders. is that checked?

ok found that, and it was not checked, looks like its working now.  That was hidden, I would have never found that.

Thanks

So if I delete all metadata from my Movies folder and rescan everything should go into my metadata folder right?

Posted

What do you mean hidden? when you first create the library it's right there underneath the folders that you're adding to the library.

maybe I missed it the first time but I didn't see it.

So if I delete all metadata from my Movies folder and rescan everything should go into my metadata folder right?

Thanks for all the help, already better support then Plex

Thanks for the feedback. To achieve this will require two steps for any given library. First, delete whatever metadata files you wish, then use the 3-dot menu on the library setup screen to refresh the entire library. and while doing so, you'll have to tell it to replace all metadata rather than the default which is just scan for changes.

OK, still doing the same thing, any other ideas?  "banner, fanart, landscape and poster" are still downloading into my Movies folder

did you make sure to uncheck the save metadata into local media folders option for each library?
