nvader2000 12 Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 I am finding it difficult to track down change logs. There does not seem sto be a central location within the community to list them. I have and Synology DS3615sx, Xbox One S, Windows 10 Mobile (950 XL), Surface Pro 4 (i7), Android tablet, iPad Mini (Gen4), iPhone 6, and a couple of Windows 10 computers. I like to keep track of changes made so if an issue that I was experience I can tell if it was address or not. These would obviously mitigate the amount of posts asking for the latest changes or even browsing here in the first place. I have been told to visit the "Blogs" but I do not see how this is relevant to change logs. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/blogs There is also a "Latest Version" site, but this is rarely updates and is completely out of sync with current builds for various platforms. Example the Emby Theatre UWP is listed as 1.1.157 and the latest version is 1.1.160 (currently installed on my 950 XL. On top of that the contents with the link provided for that platform is 63 build behind. I am not sure how Emby works with platforms build and how and/or who builds them and where they decide to post their change logs bu there needs to be a better way to centralize this information and to keep it up to date. Emby, you have a great product but your change log documentation is seriously lacking. 1
Happy2Play 9783 Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Your other option is checking GitHub. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/releases Latest Versions is Community driven as it says PM CBer if a version needs updating. 1
Sludge Vohaul 23 Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 If the Emby project had a proper issue tracking solution, proper change logs would be for free https://bugs.freenas.org/projects/freenas/roadmap
Luke 42083 Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 The forum section for each app has a pinned topic with release notes.
Sludge Vohaul 23 Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 In a way you're right, the way it currently is, it's fine to track _new_ features, but not bug fixes. For example, the "3.2.32.14-beta" (as of 01.10.2017) says "Fix dng photo support" - maybe I do use DNG images. "Fix" probably means that something has been changed in the handling of DNG images. On the other hand the author could have written "Change handling of DNG images", whatever, different day, different words. How do I find the cause for the code change and whether I am affected by it? All I can do is searching the forums for a word from the change log - this is frustrating. And, if a change occurs a few versions later then the cause can be found on the 10th page of the forum (if one has the right keywords at hands). I was for example wondering what happened to the favicon topic, found here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/41389-favicon-for-safaris-pinned-tabs/ Has it been cancelled, or postponed, or forgotten? The user does not know, because there is not issue tracking system available... Don't get me wrong, you're doing a great job, but issue tracking is not state of the art. Kind regards, sv

I have updated the "Emby Theatre UWP" details in the "Latest Versions" thread, but PM me if anything is not updated in that thread. I don't run all clients on all platforms, so people need to let me know, as I can't read every post on the forums.
nvader2000 12 Posted October 1, 2017 Author Posted October 1, 2017 Yes, I am aware of this site. However, you are only updating the version number for Emby Theatre UWP, not the content with in. As I mentioned it only shows a build that is 63 versions behind. So this is not helpful. The Github site referenced, should I assume that this covers all platforms? Sorry but I am not finding any consistency here. I want to be helpful in the development of the Emby product line and I cannot if this information is not updated. Who ever is developing the Windows UWP platform PLEASE provide updated change logs so that I can see if it resolved any issues that I may. Thank you, nvader2000
Luke 42083 Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 You don't need to go to github. The forum section for each app has a pinned topic with release notes.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 You don't need to go to github. The forum section for each app has a pinned topic with release notes. nvader2000 is referencing Theater UWP release notes shows version 1.1.97 and current version is 1.1.161.
nvader2000 12 Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 I see version numbers increasing but nothing being updated within the link, https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/42270-emby-for-windows-store-release-notes Currently it show a build that is 64 revision behind, 1.1.97. I have asked in the past for this to be updated so that I see if any issues that I may be experiencing are been addressed. Please update the change log content.
nvader2000 12 Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 Correct, I believe I was referencing Windows 10 Mobile in my posts which refers to Theater UWP. The content within is very much out of date. Ideally the app should post these change logs in the Windows Store. However I did notice that the Synology version of Emby is not displaying fixes/new features in DSM. THANK YOU! :-) Now all I need is the Theatre UWP change log updated.
CBers 7452 Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 @@nvader2000 - Is Emby Theatre working for you OK?
nvader2000 12 Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 (edited) Actually no. Please note that my network is Enterprise Class from Ubiquiti. 48 Port Gig with SFP+ up links from Synology DS3615xs with upgraded CPU to a i7-4770, fully loaded with WD40EFRX drives. 5 UniFi AP-AC Pros. All CAT6e Shielded. All equipment is racked in a Schneider certified climate controlled network closet. UniFi USG Pro 4 gateway appliance with dual WAN up links to two ONTs which are providing full fiber Gigabit each. All this was professional installed and test to provided mazium performance for audio and video streaming in and outside my home. So I highly doubt that my hardware is in any shape or form a bottle neck. 1. App and content loads times are usually very long regardless of WiFi or Cellular. 2. Content details (e.g. Storeline) does not display correctly in either portrait or landscape mode. Text runs off the side of screen. 3. Quality setting is on "Auto" and assumes 60Mbs over WiFi and Cellular regardless. However, video stutters and pauses. 4. Music controls for album/track are way to small. 5. Music album art is way to small during Issue #4 above. 6. When I play a song it appears to play for a few second (no audio) and then stops. Again, WiFi and Cellular regardless. 7. "Latest Music" in portrait mode, text overlaps controls. Feature Request: 1. Keep screen on during play back. 2. Cast to other audio devices (e.g. WiFi and Bluetooth such as Chromecast and Zipp Mini). Edited October 4, 2017 by nvader2000
