Emby laggy transcoding, and direct play

I finally finished adding my media and added a guest to my server, there was an issue with playback however, it appears as though the transcoding wasn't efficient enough to have lag free playback, and playing the file on max bitrate also resulted in the same lag issues. So i did a bit of tinkering on my server, set transcoding thread count to max, set h264 encoding preset to ultrafast, and h264 encoding crf to 28, which my server should be able to easily handle however the stream according to the guest was still extremely laggy and was stopping to buffer every now and then. According to task manager my CPU never really went above 60%, I even turned off throttling to see if that would help, but it didn't affect anything. I'm not sure what the issue is... changing the settings made zero difference. I have a 6850k at 4.0ghz and a 1070 gtx, with a gigabit connection. The guest has a 6700k, 1070 gtx, and 75/75 speeds.

Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !

keep in mind your guest's connections speed also plays a role, and there could be throttling occurring in your guest's ISP, or yours.

Here is the log for the transcoding, I really don't think throttling could be an issue as we tried even 3 mbps and that was too laggy for playback... We also did a speed test while attempting to troubleshoot the issue and he was getting 75 download, 80 upload, while I was getting 900/800.

Could this be related to the issues reported here?

I'm not sure, but it's really rendering my server a bit useless if i cannot transcode anything without lagging, as a new user to emby and former user of plex I cannot comment if it's a new issue as I haven't used earlier builds. There is no issue with the server either as it has been freshly formatted and idles at 1 or 2 percent CPU usage...

Try having your guest use the download feature in the web app to download a video file. how does that perform?
