vangeliis 8 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Hi, I have the latest Emby Mac server (3.2.32.0) and an LG 32LB580V TV. My TV supports e-ac3 (DD+), but when I play a movie/TV show that has e-ac3 audio to the TV, the audio is transcoded to ac3. I think the automatic detector in Emby fails to recognise that my TV can handle e-ac3 audio. Can it be fixed in any way? I have attached mediaifo, as an example. Thanks, Vangeliis
Luke 42077 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Hi, this is DLNA? there is no automatic detector for dlna. Everything is defined in the dlna profiles. And i think whoever designed the LG profile wasn't aware of eac3 support, or perhaps it wasn't supported on the particular model it was tested on. So we will have to look at this for a future update, thanks.
vangeliis 8 Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 Hi Luke, That's right, I'm using DLNA (sorry forgot to mention). If you could amend the LG profile to include eac3 that would be great. Is the LG DLNA profile build-in the Emby app? Can I do it myself and test? Regards, Vangeliis
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 All DLNA profiles are customizable. If you know you are using the LG profile you can add that codec to the profile (this will create a custom profile from the provided profile). Dashboard DLNA-Profiles-select the Profile-Direct Play-Click on the proper container and add eac3 to that container and hit save.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 It is always best to rename this custom profiles so you can see if it is being used in your logs. After you hit save click Profiles again and you will see your custom profile-click on it and rename the profile (Info tab).
vangeliis 8 Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 THANK YOU! Edited the LG profile as suggested and now my TV shows the audio as DD+ and ffmpeg does not kick in any more. You guys ROCK! Just made my day. Cheers, Vangeliis
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Glad we could help. Moving this topic to DLNA forum.
vangeliis 8 Posted October 8, 2017 Author Posted October 8, 2017 Hi, Just to let you know, I figured out my telly (LG 32LB580V, webOS1) can direct play H264 High@L5.1 and H264 @50FPS so I edited the .xml dlna profile to prevent ffmpeg from transcoding. Cheers, Vangeliis PS Very satisfied emby user, looking forward to the LG app.
