meatchunks 2 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 (edited) Edited: An easier question...I have a self signed SSL cert installed on my Emby server, Emby is pointed to that cert, the password is entered correctly, I have port 8921 as the external and local https port, 8096 is the http local port still. I have NAT setup on my PFsense box to allow 8921 to pass through to 8096 (passing through to 8921 wasn't working). When I connect via the webapp, there is no 'Connection is not secure' where the SSL green lock should be...any thoughts? Edited September 27, 2017 by meatchunks
meatchunks 2 Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 Edited to be a little more clear.
Luke 42083 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 you need to map the external https port to the local https port, not the local http port.
iamspartacus 40 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Also, if you are using a reverse proxy make sure you are redirecting to the reverse proxy port (usually 443) instead of the local https emby port.
meatchunks 2 Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 (edited) you need to map the external https port to the local https port, not the local http port. Is there some reason that it is not working when I try to map it to the local https port? I have disabled all other firewalls. (ie: my Roku 4 won't hit the server, nor the webapp, my Android device will) Edited September 27, 2017 by meatchunks
meatchunks 2 Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 (edited) I get a connection error when attempting to connect from the webapp or Roku, but my android works fine. I'm assuming this has something to do with the certificate (self signed cert from Win 2012r2 IIS). Edited September 27, 2017 by meatchunks
Solution Luke 42083 Posted September 27, 2017 Solution Posted September 27, 2017 You need a trusted cert such as Lets Encrypt. Roku and the web browsers will reject self signed certs. It only works in android because have the ability to force it to work. 1
meatchunks 2 Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 Ahh makes sense. I'll go research how to do that. Appreciate the help.
