meatchunks 2 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Recent Plex convert because they don't respect their user base. Looking forward to getting setup with Emby! A couple of questions as I finish the initial setup... In order to connect to your server via https/ssl, do you have to generate your own certificate? In the server settings, it says "Supply your own ssl certificate .pfx file. If omitted, the server will create a self-signed certificate." does this mean that there is ssl going over http? Can you store all of your metadata from multiple servers on a shared drive? ie: you have 3 Emby servers setup, they all point to a share drive 192.168.1.xxx/metadata and that is where all metadata/info would be stored.
Luke 42085 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 hi @@meatchunks, if you want to use SSL only then you will need a proper trusted certificate. You can easily create one using LetsEncrypt. As far as shared metadata, yes you can configure the metadata path, but the library paths entered into emby library setup will need to be identical on each server. Let us know if this helps. Thanks.
meatchunks 2 Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 Hey @@Luke, that definitely helps, thanks! As far as SSL goes, the way the menu is setup now it makes it seem like you can configure SSL with built in Emby certs. Maybe worth updating/changing so that the SSL stuff is hidden unless you check the 'external https' box? Thanks again.
Luke 42085 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 It's actually the other way around, you need a cert first before you can report https as your external address. Yes we probably need to improve the configuration. thanks for the feedback.
