Flickering UI

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I reported this under another post of mine but now it deserves its own post because I have exact this issue on multiple devices.

I tried the latest version of the Android app on my Android 4.4 and another device with Android 7.1.2  It starts playing the video but in a sec it tries to full screen then scales the ui back to normal then again tries full screen etc forever while the video is pure black, so basically the ui flickers constantly as it seems like it cant decide on the proper scale of the ui.  I do not remember none of these behaviours, I think something has changed between the latest version and the one before that is causing these issues.  I tried the previous versions on these devices before and there were no such issues.

On the other hand I have another device with lollipop and that does not seem to have these issues with the latest version.

I am using Emby beta on Debian testing.

2.9.61 has the issue described above.

2.9.56 does not have this issue.

So it is clear to me that this is not a server side issue but something to do with the android app because running in browser does not show such stuff either.

This is only during video playback?

Yes it happens only when a video is set to play via casting(controlled from another device) or directly from the ui

I experienced this last night, the only thing I could do was to use the Web app in Chrome. Just checked again, same problem when attempting to play any video. The app is totally unusable at the moment.

Update:

I just ipdated the server to Version 3.2.32.8 beta

All video playing in the android app and the web app on android appears to be fixed.

Thanks Luke for the fast fix.

The latest server update solved the issue on my devices as well.

Well done. Since you are using pre-release builds, please make sure to use the Testing Area of the community going forward to report your issues.
