henderjr 6 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I've been getting this error pretty much since I started using Emby 2-3 months ago. It seems to happen when I watch a show while it's recording and then want to delete. The show is no longer recording but it won't let me delete. The solution has always been force a restart from the Dashboard. Then I can delete. For instance yesterday I had it record the local news and then world news back to back on same channel. I finished watching both about 3 minutes after it was done recording. I then went to delete both and they both give the same error. System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'E:\Emby Recorded TV\ABC World News Tonight With David Muir\ABC World News Tonight With David Muir 2017-09-25.ts' because it is being used by another process. There wasn't another device accessing it. Not a huge deal but I'm anal about deleting stuff when done. See log. Starts with it recording the local news and ends right after the error mentioned above. Log.txt
Luke 42077 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Hi, I performed the same test and was able to delete, but i'll continue to test this. Thanks for the report.
ebr 16169 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Do you have anything trying to do post-processing (like removing commercials, etc.) on these items? Or, even something as simple as an Explorer window open on the folder?
henderjr 6 Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 Do you have anything trying to do post-processing (like removing commercials, etc.) on these items? Or, even something as simple as an Explorer window open on the folder? Nope. Nothing open on the desktop. The other day I even unchecked the convert while recording to see if that helps. That doesn't matter though my processor is much happier if I leave that unchecked. The error only happens if I watch a show while it's recording then finishing watching after the recording is done. It never happens if I start watching a show after the recording is done. It happened again on the NBC show This is Us last night that finished at 9 and we finished watching about 9:20. Went to delete and the same error. Rebooting the server using my Android phone let me delete it then.
Luke 42077 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 What do you mean finish watching after recording is done? You mean to say that you stop and resume from where you left off? or you just play through to the end all at once?
henderjr 6 Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 (edited) What do you mean finish watching after recording is done? You mean to say that you stop and resume from where you left off? or you just play through to the end all at once? Sorry I wasn't clear. I'll start watching a show while it's recording but will never catch up so I get to the end of the recording at least a few minutes after the show has aired, complete .ts file created, and tuner has been released. So in theory there shouldn't be anything keeping a lock on the file but trying to delete gives the above mentioned error. If I start watching something that was recorded but after the file was created and completed it will allow me to delete. Doubt it matters but I pretty much only use the Amazon Android version of Emby. I have multiple fire devices (sticks and a 4k box). Edited September 27, 2017 by henderjr
