Hello, I'm new to the community and have migrated from Plex as I hope many others do with their new policies, I just wish emby were as simple to set up, I made a test server with 2 movies however whenever i try to connect from a remote connection, or even wifi using emby connect(ie email) from another computer(Emby theater) it will find the server name, I click on it and the loading circle spins for about a minute then it gives me a "connection failure" message. Tried on PC and android, same message, any ideas?

I just tried everything on that list, including opening a port from my router settings AND firewall and nothing worked. Same exact message whether trying to connect from emby connect, trying through chrome just loads to nothing, local or remote, neither IP's/ports loaded anything, restarted the server and tried again, still nothing.

So does canyouseeme.org show your port open?

Let me know if this is correct, I setup both with limited port forwarding knowledge, however I believe it should be correct as i followed the directions to the best of my ability, I logged into canyouseeme.org and it does not show my port as open. I'm not sure what the issue can be on my end as plex was able to setup the server and forward all ports without any additional input from me, does emby not go through the same process? The top pic is from my router port forwarding settings, and the bottom pic from windows 10 firewall.

Emby should have installed firewall rules for the application itself, do you see those rules for Private and possible Public?

And you don't feel violated by this  :P

kidding, we try to do the same thing, but at this point we probably don't support quite as many router models. You may want to look through windows firewall and see if there are any rules blocking mediabrowser.serverapplication.exe

Hey thanks guys finally figured it out, apparently windows had blocked emby server in the firewall as you guys suspected... not sure why as I wasn't notified or asked if I want to allow it. Loving emby so far.
