Few questions about sharing with external users

1.  Do all guest users need to sing up for an Emby Connect account in order for me to share my server with them?  I assume the answer is yes but I'm still a little confused about needing/not needing an Emby Connect account.

2.  For non-Emby Premier users, will they need to pay for the Emby app on their device right away in order to install the app or is it free for a specific time period before it becomes paid like with Plex?

Emby Connect is solely designed for ease of use and convenience. The Guests feature is built around Emby Connect and therefore it is required to use that, but you are also free to just create local users on your Emby Server and have users log directly into your server. The downside of this is they will need to remember your server's external address. That is what Emby Connect can help them with if you choose to use that.

Your users will inherit your Premiere status when they are connected to your server, so there will be nothing for them to worry about.

Use a dynamic ip address for external clients, it works great :)   I use it in my car from my android stereo for the kids to watch, keeps them quiet!

Not sure what you're suggesting here.

I use no-ip dynamic ip client - there are others, ie "www.whatever.noip.org:port"    and on my emby server create a local user, download the windows noip updater and run it on the server so the web address always points to your ip.

from my car and android emby, add manual server > http://www.whatever.noip.org:port .  This then connects to your server, there you can login with manual login.  The android will remember the server next time its started.

Oh I got you.  Yea for myself I connect via VPN but my remote or "guest" users all have NoIP DDNS hostnames setup.  I made them set one up each and I maintain an alias list of those hostnames in my firewall so that it only allows incoming connections from those hostnames.
