xilex 9 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I was testing the Emby Connect feature on my phone LTE and I was not able to connect, even though Emby was functioning locally. I checked the port fowarding table on my router and the entries for Emby's ports were gone. An Emby restart fixed the problem. I'm not sure why it happened. I leave the system running Emby on 24/7. Has anyone else had this happen? Maybe a regularly scheduled task can send the UPnP request periodically or check if the port is open, and if closed or not forwarded, redo the UPnP port forwarding task.
Luke 42080 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 We may just not be renewing it often enough, thanks.
revengineer 142 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 (edited) UPnP is bad security practice. I suggest using a VPN connection instead. If your router does not support that you might as well make the holes in the firewall permanent and independent of UPnP. This will eliminate your problem. Edited September 24, 2017 by revengineer
