Am I in the right place request...

Hi folks, I'm hoping I'm in the right place here, as I really want a solution to my current predicament.

My setup is as follows (extensive!)

MS Active Directory Domain infrastructure (I'm a techie, and I use it for practise and to make sure my kids are safe on the web)

Windows Media Centre 8.1 PC with DVB-T2 Tuners, and local hard drive for storing live TV. Also running ServerWMC for TV backend, also has KODI 17 for watching BluRays.

Windows File Server (Server 2016) with all of my media files (ripped DVDs/BluRays/Archived TV Shows/General Videos). These are usually in VIDEO_TS, or BDMV formats rather than ISOs

Multiple RaspberryPi 3 front ends connected to monitors around the house for the kids, wife etc.

The issue I have is that the RPIs are becoming increasingly difficult to maintain a consistent library on, as it it getting harder and harder to actually get them to see the media file shares.

So, my (possible) solution is to load a copy of EMBY onto a Virtual Windows PC, connect that with windows shares to the server, and then use that to have the RPIs connect to.

Am I looking at the correct products?

Emby server, with all your media with share.  And then using the RPi app, not sure how far along it is but that should work. A quick search will tell you :).

Emby will maintain your media, course you might want to change out your video_Ts and BDMV format to something like MKV for compatibility, but it's up to you.
